WinterSnowfall: It works, but you need a patched installer and possibly some d3d7 compatibility tool to actually run the game (dgVoodoo2 is a good option). I'm not even using a NoCD.
Tried that one and it's not bad, but the extremely high keyboard rotation speed sucks. It's only playable with mouse, the way I used to play it won't work.

JK could still uses some polish, especially for the badly compressed cut scenes. Didn't try it with MotS, which was sadly shipped with only low res sounds.
Duuune...

My favorite combination is Dune 2000 with OpenRA.

timppu: I understood at least the PC Dune games were related to the 80s Dune movie (license), not the book. Not sure if that movie tie-in license has expired already a long time ago.

I was a bit alarmed by that video how he couldn't make Emperor: Battle for Dune run on modern PCs. I need to try that, I liked that game a lot, hopefully it can still be made run on modern PCs (Windows or Linux, I don't care).

EDIT: Well, googling for it, it should be possible to run, with a noCD crack, a third-party compatibility fix and dgVoodoo2.
Interesting, thank you for sharing.
That would be nice to sse them here.

The first one was; complete with the movie character likeness (in some cases ;) ). I was a really odd mix of adventure game & strategy. I played the hell out of it; loved it and its music while playing.

edit:
And the AdLib version I liked better back then: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FjHon6yg-r8 (and still like better then the Roland for some reason)

Did they ever complete the Atreides campaign for that? I remember I picked it up a few years back, but the Atreides campaign was only playable up to mission 5, so there was really no point.

I preferred the MT-32 version (I had Roland LAPC-I and later CM-32L), but the Adlib/Soundblaster FM-synthesis music was quite well done in that game, which unfortunately couldn't be said about most games.

This video compares the Soundblaster and Roland MT-32 of the floppy version intro; apparently your first video was from the CD version of the game, missing this intro?

I never liked MT32 much, it was way too spacy. They tried to hide the bad quality of the music instruments behind hall effects mixed into the samples (But of course it was always better than OPL, which was already one of the better Adlib compatible FM chips).

For me it was General Midi from the beginning, once 4MB boards came out with MPU401 chips.
I was probabyl a bit spoiled by the Amiga sound, which used samples from the beginning (even if many games used the same free not-so-good samples).

Now I use Virtual Midi Synth with high quality samples. Only when games don't have any GM support at all, I use a MT32 emulator.

Dune 2000 is a blast!
I've managed to install the game with all cinematics and music by following this guide.

The links to two required files, (the modified) DUNE2000.EXE and Dune 2000 Config Tool are dead, though.
I picked them through Grunt Mods version here.

It just works!

But I still do hope that the Dune series will be here on GOG.
The chance is probably small, but who knows anyway.

Probably? I would not rule that out but its far too long ago. But both SB & Adlib is superior to the MT-32 according to my ears ;)

Although I somewhat later got this presented by the YT algo which I think is the best of all worlds. Literally :D

I believe the people who own the Dune IP have said that they don't like certain things that Dune 2 did (so it will never see an official release again)
