For those who don't know, black friday is a big sale day in the US, end of november. However, I've never been to a black friday in my life, so I don't know how good the sales might be for computers.

For my fellow americans, are there good prices? Should I go for pre-built computer or go for the parts? I assume any sales would be for pre-builts, not so much for parts. Of course, I'm not even sure how shopping might work with covid and all.
NewEgg.com is having a "Black November" sale with some nice discounts throughout the entire month on both pre-built systems and some individual components.
If you're happy with discontinued or refurbished products, it's perfectly fine.
Many stores slowly increase their prices during October and November so that the deals on Black Friday end up not being as good as they seem. But you can still get some nice discounts. Check out the prices history before buying anything.
It really depends. Some years there are some great bargains. Other years, "Black Friday" seems to be an excuse to try and clear out a lot of old stock that doesn't normally sell well and a sale ends up drowning in generic USB chargers / leads / hubs, laptop bags & last year's webcams... (at least, that's all I'm seeing in Amazon UK's Computers & Accessories section right now...)
In my country there's some good deals but you have to be fast, otherwise stock's gone. Filtering thru a lot of uninteresting products can take time and be somewhat boring.

Also this time seems to be the best time to pick up used bargains.
Don't forget, there's also Cyber Monday; which has pretty much turned Black Friday into a four-day weekend anyway.

Business around here have been offering Black "Friday" discounts since October, and still going...
Have you seen better deals on in-store stuff or online items? What kind of time window is there to snag a deal?

Since I have a new PSU, vid card and hard drives, maybe I'm better off just looking for a mobo, cpu and ram and hoping for the best?

quite well said here
Yes, I've been told if you buy a RTX 3090 Ti you only have to pay double the marketvalue instead of triple.
