snowkatt: atari is a shuffeling zombie these days it changed hands so often its hard to keep track of it anymore

but i mean the original 70's-90's atari
and infograms when they changed their names to atari

confused yet ?

infotari ceased all functional operations as a company in 2009
though they might still be lurching around

jadeite: In that case, you could also add 3D0 to that list.
oh god computron is complete !!
What use is the Dark Alliance IP without D&D, Forgotten Realms or Baldur's Gate? It's just a name and at this point it's far too late to release something like Drakensang Online.
Not that I'd mind an actual Dark Alliance 3, DA2 was one of my favorite games on the XBox.

not much
i doubt they can even sell the game with out hasbro's involvement
since they own D&D and all that

Maybe Hasbro can acquire them, just like they acquired the other DND games from Interplay/Atari.

well might be good news depending on the new owner. Don't really think that EA or Activision or SE are interested into the IPs so actually the new owner might be a publisher which will put it to a good use? Might be wishful thinking though :P

cd project shouldn't give any fucks :D. Spending money on "derelict" IPs is the worst they can do atm. They only just managed to kinda "etablish" a stable cashflow with the growing gog.com sales and (most likely) the upcoming steady revenues from from the GWENT game. But ya this cashflow will only allow to them to fund like 2 AAA games parallel without getting totally burned when one aint a great success but it ain't that amount of money which allows you to reactivate dormant IPs and to see what happens :D . Just a risky market without a broad portofolio - as the old games wont generate much revenue and the nowadays potential of new games of the same IPs is rather unknown and even if the IP would have potential you still could end up making a bad game costing you a double loss bc of the costs of acquiring the IP and developing the games ^^

exactly
cd projekt red cant afford to buy IP's left and right they need to establish a catalog and a reliable cash flow of their own first
i keep repeating this but square nearly bankrupted themselves by losing 90 million + on the spiritis within
cd projekt red cant afford mistakes like that

also most of the interplay IP's are dead they havent been of note since the lat 90's and early 2000's
i can see hasbro be interested in picking up the rights to DnD videogames
and the likes of deep silver and nordic who seem to be in the market of scavenging

Catshade: Yeah I can see THQ Nordic snagging most of Interplay's IP and creating remastered/enhanced/anniversary editions of them for a quick buck.
If that'll turn out to be something concrete then I say: go for it, THQNordic! :P

so we can expect to see descent series back on gog again? ... for 30$ each of the 3 and 20$ for mercenary i guess.
Not at all surprising, and at least they aren't just letting the IP sink beneath the waves untraceably.

I would recommend picking up any Interplay titles that use licensed material, such as the Star Trek games (happy 50th anniversary, by the way). Whoever buys the IP will likely have to renegotiate those licenses too.
