Sorry I didn't watch all of it, skipped parts of it, but it looked really meh.

The younger bald guy with a heavy (Russian?) accent kept going on and and on and on about some "hacking of life", how it will revolutionize everything, and later he seemed to be talking about that stupid conspiracy theory that corona vaccination is some kind of ploy to achieve surveillance of people.

The overdramatic cuts, heavy editing etc. increased the feeling that that was merely some stupid lying piece of shit propaganda video. I wouldn't be surprised it is from Kreml, they keep spouting stupid shit like that all the time.

We westerners are generally too bright to fall for stupid shit like that. Democracy allows our brains to work freely and efficiently.

If you feel I misunderstood that video, by all means explain shortly why it was supposed to be such a wonderful video, what is the gist of it. To me it seemed like an useless piece of shit video, total waste of my time, the 5 minutes of my life that I will never get back. Never!

an anti-vaxxer video? not worth the bites it is taking on the interwbes then. science-denalism and conspiracy theories is not what i would call "nice". interesting, perhaps (as in - "lets see what this idiot says"), but not nice.

Real science has proof and that proof is accessible, where as in this case, there's literally no proof of efficacy. They literally have NDA's with the governments allowing them not to disclose the damage they do.

Using some blanket 'science denier' is what someone does when they don't understand science, but please, go take another booster and clotshot.

if i may correct you. science never has, and never will prove anything. proof only exists in maths, baking and psudo-science. science provides evidence, not proofs. this is a corner stone in science (and what makes it opposed to for example faith or conspiracy).

The reason for this is that proof is dualistic in nature, either is it proven or not. if it is proven, then that's it, it can never be changed again. Science, on the other hand, welcomes challanges and are contantly changing and in flux, depending on what the resent evidence, or the conclusions based on the largest amount of evidence pointing to the same thing. Science can disprove, though, if something is wrong.

edit - in other words, if you can provide enough evidence that your view on vaccines are indeed correct, then the science commuity will change to reflect this. However, the type and amount of evidence that the science community have right now on the use of vaccines, does not meet that standard.

edit 2 - i bet you also think that germ theory is "just a theory" as well :)

edit 3 - this thread will be locked on MOnday anyway, so it is up for grabs for whatever anyone wants to post.

Yeah, that's not interesting. What's interesting is old episodes of the Computer Chronicles, were you watch people try to hype up the Next Big Thing, only for it to vanish by next COMDEX.

You know, things like the Scanner Mouse.

This video is sh!t in my opinion.

The video isn't working for me.
What's in the link that's making the disciples of scientism go reeeee?

I found another interview of this person by Tom Bilyeu https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=x6tMLAjPVyo
His starting points are about big data being used to know more about people than they do and crossing it with biotech which isn't exactly new then it goes off into other topics I've listed.

How we can hack humans and manipulate their desires [3:26]
How algorithms will learn to understand you better than you understand yourself (and why you could be replaced by one) [5:03]
Why corporations will even be able to predict your sexual orientation… [8:50]
The reality of outsourcing the self-discovery process… [12:27]
How algorithms will change the way we make art… [15:49]
Can AI save us from cancer? (See how it’s possible, but decide for yourself if it's dangerous)... [18:10]
The battle between privacy and health... [19:29]
How to take control of the story you tell yourself and why you need to stop thinking of your life as a movie… [21:09]
Why we’re heading into the direction of immortality and the future is just a series of massive disruptions [28:44]
Why you need to continuously reinvent yourself if you want to survive to 2035. [30:01]
The two most important tools you will need to succeed in the world of AI (and they’re not what you think). [32:05]
Why Yuval believes that science fiction is the most important artistic genre… [34:25]
See what Yuval has to say about the world’s 3 biggest challenges… [37:29]

Since I am quite interested in EVs and battery technologies, there are constantly these clickbait Youtube videos and channels which always are like "OMG! Now it happened! The new solid state battery/graphene battery/enter your buzzword here/ is here! It will change everything!"

Then you watch the video and it is about some technology which has been under investigation already for 10-20 years, but has some severe technical or economical limitations that have not disappeared anywhere, which are blocking from them becoming mainstream. And it doesn't seem likely it will change in the future either.

Meh, the dark side of Youtube news reports with their clickbait nature...

morolf: lol, always funny when the biggest conformists come up with lines like this.
"conformist: a person who conforms to accepted behaviour or established practices."

I can't say that describes me well at all. I don't even like watching ice hockey (or any other type of sports for that matter) like the "rest" of people. If anything, I consider myself as a "social hermit" even by Finnish standards, that doesn't often get excited about the same things and phenomenons as the majority of people.

Then again, I don't oppose some established facts just for the sake of opposition. If that makes me a "conformist", then I guess I am one.

Or you realize that people tried to make (for example) EVs a thing in the 70s, but they were seen as uncool, dorky, and shudder to think, unmanly, since if it doesn't growl, it obviously doesn't prowl.

Of course, when your choice is an electric cheese wedge or the Ford Pinto, people are going to pick the deathtrap rushed to market with a poorly placed fuel tank.

In the 70s there were reasonable electric cars like the Enfield 8000 which looks like the Fiat 126 or old Yugos.

They had hybrids like this Briggs & Stratton.
