I'm sorry if this is covered elsewhere but search functions don't seem to be good at weeding out non applicable information. Also, first post, so sorry if there is a more appropriate category this should go in. Ok, here it goes:

I do not want to use GOG Galaxy if at all possible. I like having games on my actual computer without an "APP" to play them. It's the major thing that drove me away from Steam. I went into Galaxy to redirect the installation to a folder on my other drive, but it does not seem to be working and I don't have the option to change where GOG games are installed on my computer outside of that. Does anyone know if this is possible?

I would like to install a game from GOG onto a different drive than default, without using Galaxy, simply put. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

EDIT: First off, great community here! I didn't expect useful responses so quickly. You guys are awesome and I appreciate you all. Second, it was some weird goof that I missed that I needed to put the files into the folder I wanted to install them in first before attempting the install, rather than choosing where to install them after opening them from the Download folder. I should have known better. Something about Shmacky's response specifically made me realize my error even though it wasn't exactly addressed in his post. I guess the detailed instructions just reminded me to think and wipe the drool off my chin. Thanks guys! Game on.

hey there!
just use the offline installers. they ask you where do you want to install your games.

ADD: either dl them straight up from your library in browser. or, in GOGlaxy, go into "Backups & Goodies" of the games you want to install and grab them there.

hope, it helps.

Web browser. Your account. Games. Drup down menu after you click a game. Get all the files that correspond to 1 version. Depending on the game, there is a drop down menu within each game "more" if it has other options. Patches are not usually useful. Why? Because they often give you an older patch version after you download the latest entire game. Just a oddball thing on gog. Get use to it.

Literally all of the GOG games put the games on your actual computer, whether or not you use Galaxy.
Note! GOG's installers are pretty hamfisted! Unless you know how to symlink, using the installers is not recommended if your primary drive is low on space.
See, GOG streams the install, no matter where it is going, to the temporary folder, instead of just doing a Zram swap or something logical. In short, you end up requiring twice the space to install.
