Orkhepaj: what do they censor?

Swedrami: https://www.gamesradar.com/cyberpunk-2077-to-be-heavily-censored-in-japan/

"won't have the genital customization,... because there won't be any genitals - at least not visibly"
"naked male and female characters will all be donning underwear in the Japanese version, and sexually explicit content will be "revised." Depictions of genitals are getting the chop as well - any billboards or graffiti in the shape of genitals will be absent."
"There will be "selective revisions" of limb severing and gore like "exposed guts". It's unclear if those gore edits will extend beyond loss of limb and exposed entrails"

It's the same (+ any depictions of or references to homo-sexuality) for certain other countries too, I imagine.
Cheers for the insight from such articles! I have heard that the NMC (National Media Council) here has already rated the game for consoles if I recall. So I wanted a bit more clarification if I use Steam or GOG will I be receiving that same version of localisation.

I checked the ratings for the PS4 version and the Steam version and they do differ! The one on the Playstation Store I'm pretty sure is localised and is rate 21+. Whilst the Steam version is 18+. It's quite odd, but I thought I should add that there

sanscript: Some countries are pretty backwards culturally when it comes to "normal" nudity and sex.

With all the sick, demented humiliation porn, and all that lol anime shit with tentacles they spew out every second, not to mention, blasting someones head off and beating a person that's on the ground is perfectly ok in media and in any medium, but then having trouble seeing normal nudity that causes some uncomfortable feelings like some insecure teen due to their culture is logically absurd.

Frankly, I find that way of thinking more deviant than most fetishes out there...

EDIT: Kinda weird since Japan have been in the forefront in areas like technology and transport after around 1960 (and in the west, especially US and Scandinavia we're still using trains that uses the same slow variant we used 200 years ago(!), but I digress...).
I must admit it is quite an odd and frankly, hypocritical way of running things there. I find it amusing that they put in a lot of effort into censoring pornography and nudity, yet all the other media you mentioned are still the most prominent. But hey, they're trying right?

pippin15: would it be legal to use a vpn in the middle east? i mean, in china it is, but china is china... although islam can be quite tricky sometimes, to put it nicely
avatar
Naashie: I think it should be fine to use, I mean I've been using a VPN service myself, although there are guidelines set that I'm not too familiar with. I shall look into that more.

My GOG account is already based in UAE, does using a VPN change that? So in essence I will be receiving an EU version of the game by doing so?
It's the current location in the moment you're buying/pre-ordering that matters.
Meaning, that your purchase/pre-order will still be registered as having been made from Europe, and the next time you're logging into gog.com without the VPN is not going to change that.

no, and then this is where "backwards culturally" means "not the same as us" (especially as written by a Norwegian, where there still are many porongraphy laws in action....).

Speaking of Japan, there are laws about showing genetailia and pubic hair. They do have a lot of "normal" pornography as well, not only tentacle porn, which falls under the same laws, so it is generally censored. However, since it is censored, and there is (a lot) non-censored pornography from other contries out there, this tends to not be exported, rather just the strange / weird. So it is not the case that it do not exisit, it is just that you do not know about it.

I don't think there's anything more pointless than Japanese porn.

"not the same as us" is not the problem, but you already knew that ;)

And, if you're thinking of erected genitalia and tits need to be censored, that was more or less removed years ago...

EDIT: But yes, the Norwegian government is FAR from being what I would call "enlightened" :D
