At least besides new indie games digital distributions Valve unlike Epic Games nowadays is still capable to focus on their own classics(old games)that's my own compliment right now.
Maybe at least once I'll get to the USA in this year or in next 2 years perhaps Gabe Newell would let me borrow his own yacht nowadays and together we could explore what's inside Miami hidden secrets such as for instance Bermuda Triangle somehow...etc.

Shocker650: Steam is the best, rather you like it or not. There's a reason why it's the most successful. If it ever goes down, they will let you keep the games DRM free. So why would anyone hate it? Steam literally saved PC gaming.
I never heard any of those statements, because in fact Steam is not even able to decide if a game is DRMed or not, it is the publishers wish doing so. If it would go down, most publishers may not care and Steam can not care.

Fact is, without Steam i may miss about 60 mostly AAA-games that could not be played on PC without them. Those games can not be played without them because the gamers are not without Steam, so naturally those games may only go to the place where gamers are "sitting".

Ultimately, Steam got pros and cons... it is supreme as a "social media platform", in general for Online-only-games°°, if people want to make reviews, share media and stuff but it does not allow for the biggest freedom i do enjoy as a customer, which is uusally provided by a GOG version. GOG would be at a much better position if they had more gamer support but it simply did not happen, so i have to accept GOG not being a AAA-games destination, unless for very old stuff. °°However, they do not really need Steam, as they usually got a own account.

Of course a game like "Monster Hunter World" is a fully viable GOG game, as it does offer a true offline-mode (so it can allow DRM free) and with a Online mode attached that can of course as well become played using a GOG build or even better "crossplay", which seems rare. So, the only true obstacle is just the low sales... making it barely worth it for a company like Capcom. In the end it is the same game... on GOG allowing for more freedom. A "supreme launcher" or "supreme social media" will change nothing.
