tinyE: They actually can't afford water in California. :P You aren't even allowed to water your lawn out there.
avatar
XYCat: do they use green spray paint on those lawns?
Shit I really didn't mean to derail this thread.
Anyway as far as I know a lot of people are just getting rid of their grass. My brother and his family went with cute looking pebbles.

Considering the huge amount of water and effort you put into it just for it to be green for 5 months...

What was it? Grass is the most cultivated plant in the US and takes the most resources? IT would make more sense if we turned it into bio-fuel for winter, but no one hardly does that...

The best thing about that is that if there's one plant which takes a lot to get rid of, it's grass. It'll be there regardless of whether you like it or not. However, that's not the right kind of grass, it's not pretty enough.

I think they started relaxing the marijuana laws in certain states... (yes, smart-alecky reply) :)

Or the 'common' grass which looks like it grows in certain spots and tends to host a lot of weeds with burrs. It looks nice and lush if it grows too tall, but once cut, looks like a person with bad hair-plugs that got a crew-cut.

blotunga: My baseline is that if I can't save half of my salary every month then I've got bigger problems.
Wow, more then half my wage is gone the day I get paid.

For me once everything is paid for the month, if I could not buy myself a little treat I would have some big problems. So about £20 at the end of the month.

I never had much money so I learned to live frugally. When I was a student I got by with a $50/ month scholarship. Even today I think twice about spending money and thrice about signing contracts for recurring expenses like subscriptions.

Got to disagree. If you are careful (to withdraw before end) and disease free, you have no problem. In my case too, in which the woman i am seeing is married to someone else, i do not even NEED a condom. She herself insisted that i wear none, even though i had a brand new pack full of them on me.

Having to squeeze your thing in that infernal plastic thing is so sad... Makes it really unhappy and less sensitive.

... All I can say is enjoy your baby.

Seriously, did you know there's a chance your pre-ejaculate can contain sperm? Good luck.

Never mind. Besides, she has a hubby. And 2 children already. Some people wouldn't even think, or worse, afford, a DNA test... Which reminds me...

"If you cannot afford a DNA-paterntity test, you 've got bigger problems"! Another sentence on topic, to change the subject too, he he...

(P.S. Do not worry too much on pre-ejaculate. The amount of sperm in it is a *possibility*, and a low one too. If you can control and prolong yourself, also, there is almost zero chance for accidents.)
To be honest, I think this is rather meaningless in most cases. I can afford $200 for a visa, but I can't afford $200 for a grape. Even if it is the best grape in the world, $200 is just way too high.

OTOH, if you can put a number on it, then you probably don't have any money and should probably be looking for ways of getting more income.
For me it'd be spending a little dosh on games I really want - most of them are $10-$20 or less as is - go see the occasional movie at a cinema, or have a little pinball outing at our arcade downtown. Yeah, then I'd say I have bigger problems. Even with my unnecessary spending I'm able to squirrel away $150-$250 savings most months. Sure, that doesn't sound like much, but when one's wage is barely above minimum wage that's still better than most people I know in my position. I've certainly never had to live paycheck to paycheck, thank goodness. Tax season is upon us so I'm looking forward to putting another $600-some towards savings. :)

Could things be better in my life right now? Sure, but I've got a roof over my head, my creature comforts, more entertainment than one could shake a stick at - primarily thanks to our local library system that has a very up to date DVD catalog and plenty of great books to read... well, that and GOG for games - so I don't have any real reason to complain. Hell, I may not particularly like my job - who does? - but it provides me with very affordable medical and dental, a full-time schedule, and paid vacation! The latter is very uncommon in my line of work. Yeah, I'm quite thankful for the things I got. I got it better than a lot of other people in the world, and where I am in our society I'd be considered towards the very lower end of the totem pole. ... So's life.

Fortunately, I have never needed to afford condoms.
