I know it's only three years old or so, and it isn't on GOG or Steam yet. Is it a good game? I read that it's mostly a multiplayer game but I prefer single player. Is that true?

Try Origin Access its cheaper plus you get Battlefield 4 Premium to play.
If you haven't played Battlefield 3 I can give you a copy, it's for Origin. I'm pretty sure Battlefield 4 has a campaign you can play just like the previous game but they are mainly multiplayer games.
Thanks for the replies and for the offer, amund. Maybe sometime I'll try it but will hold off for now.
Since origin retail games consist of "codes"so it's always cheaper on online store.
Specially since Battlefield 1 is coming out you my get Battlefield 4 cheaper.
It is. TB said its massively improved from launch, and all the expansions are currently free on Origin via On The House. So you can get the game, get all expansions for free and maybe spend a little on your favorite class to unlock the weapons. The expansions also add single player content, and they're currently free (saying twice for the heck of it).

Gerin: I saw Battlefield 4 at Gamestop for $8. Is it a good deal?
It's been $5 for the base game, and the DLC has been free multiple times.
Today Saturday, I was visiting a friend that arrived today after he was visiting his family for the past 10 days in another city far from here. And to pass the time over there, he told me he bought a deal of games just before the travel: Battlefield 4 + The Last Of Us, to play in his second PS3 he has in his family's house. He said he never played The Last Of Us, but only Battlefield 4 because –according to him– it was awesome and really fun to play, although kind of short. He prefered to play the campaign, and also said he didn't regret the purchase. I guess the game is good? (if bought during a sale... :P)

There are probably still hundreds of single player classics that you haven't played yet... why bother with a game that considers its sp campaign as a (short) "warm-up" for the multi-player part?
Ok, 8$ isn't much, and you won't waste too much time on it. I guess in this case it all depends on how much you like first person shooters. ;-)

Warning about BF3 (no idea about BF4, didn't get it).

The game is extremely linear & handheld.
The single player & co-op that is.

Another downside, when you're in co-op, you don't get to choose who is the pilot.
I've experience of flying as I lived in the pvp for ages, played with a cronie who had barely touched the game to see how co-op pve was & it was bad.
No matter what we did, it kept sticking him as pilot & me as the shooter, which just meant constant helicopter shaped bullets hitting the ground ;).
