It seems that you're using an outdated browser. Some things may not work as they should (or don't work at all).

neumi5694: Say what?

I don't know what you mean by saying "you are locked in for that system".

Did you expect to get the PS5 version as bonus?
If you have several systems, you always have to buy the games for all systems. It never has been different. You don't get a Nintendo version in addition when you buy Sega.
The system requirements on the GOG store page say that you need a Windows PC, so that's what's required to play.

It would require an authehtication mechanism across all systems if buying one version should entitle you to play all games versions and that doesn't exist.

There is one exception: If you buy from the XBox Live Store, you get the PC version and the XBox versions for games that were ported to both.

This
Just want to throw in my two cents and say I am in the same boat.

I have ceased purchasing any new games at all on GOG, even Night Dive remakes
And while GOG was my preferred platform, I am regretting buying games on it pretty hard now
GOG really screwed up by taking this 0 support at all position, while supporting some crappy Amazon streaming product no one has ever heard of, that theres probably 0 users of on the platform right now.

I think this is where we part ways? Wanted to check out the new RE remakes.. but... I think I'm done? Wish you guys never sold out.

Old GOG would at least let us have download links on the actual website, so GOG customers could play their games without having to learn how to actually navigate Linux.
You guys know that right, there's not even a download button on the GOG site, when you access through SteamOS?
Its a complete betrayal of everything the company claims to stand for.

I feel completely disregarded, or even like they are being hostile towards us, despite having been a customer for like a decade and spending thousands of dollars here. It's very anti-consumer. You shouldn't have to know how to use the CLI in Linux, or use a third party app like Hero, just to play the games you own.

How many games you got in your account?

If its less than 200, be quiet. I am a bigger share of the consumer market than you.

You mean the download button that is available on the website to get the offline installers?

1- Go to gog.com
2- login
3 -click your username and choose games
4- choose whatever game you want
5 -download the offline installer

simple process to make it work on the steam deck:
1- add the installer to steam and run it with proton
2- add the installed game .exe to steam and delete the installer
3- that's it

I have less than 200 games on my account, should I delete my previous post with instructions?

a) none of your business
b) way more than you
c) it's not relevant anyway, unlike the fact you necroed a worthless thread to post nonsense
d) all of the above
The Amazon deal has been nothing but great for GOG users with prime. Not sure why it's being hated on.

He's mostly talking about lack of official support by GOG. He would be right, but most of us have moved on and found alternatives.

Then the fact that you can't even download a copy of GOG Galaxy if you're using Linux (as in through the browser), is like a slap in the face. I mean, even if you wanted to run it through Wine, it's blocked to download if you're on Linux :)
Very much the opposite experience for me. Since getting a Steam Deck, I've bought more games from GOG than ever before. It's trivially easy to install GOG games in desktop mode, then run them like any other Steam game in gaming mode. Then you can take full advantage of customising controls, using the trackpad as a mouse, mapping keyboard bindings to Steam Deck buttons, adding gyro aiming etc. It's made playing old 90s games an absolute delight - point and clicks, city builders, dungeon crawlers, isometric RPGs, all transformed into handheld games I play in bed or on the sofa.

If anything, my regret is buying so many games on Steam that I should have bought on GOG - to the point that I'm now re-buying a lot of them in GOG sales. The GOG versions enjoy all the same benefits of Proton that the Steam versions do, and you actually, you know, own the games you paid for.
Me currently without a working pc i recently bought stronghold crusader on gog which i already own the stronghold collection on dvd. Used winlator to play stronghold crusader on my android phone since i don't have access to a pc and gog installers are perfect for this. It can only play 2d games with the cncddraw since it has a mali gpu, but i wanted to beat the historical campaigns since i never did that. Also have eador genesis on my phone. Steam doesn't work that good with winlator i think so i gotta say offline installers from gog for the win
470 euros ? Do you know how many games can i buy for that money on Gog ?

Linux Mint and Link your GOG acount to Lutris. I've yet to find a game that doesn't work yet.

Still it would be nice to be able to use GOG Galaxy and run linux or windows games through it like Steam.

That's not entirely true. You can install the GOG Galaxy via Bottles and it seems to work alright.

https://www.howtogeek.com/how-to-get-gog-galaxy-on-linux/

Although, I would recommend using Heroic Games Launcher because it pretty much does everything you would want from Galaxy, including cloud saves, achievements, online multiplayer, etc... It also installs the Galaxy builds rather than relying on offline installers, so installing and updating a game is always just a few clicks away.

https://www.gamingonlinux.com/2024/08/next-heroic-games-launcher-release-to-include-initial-gog-galaxy-support/
(This news article was from last month so the feature has already been made available to everyone.)

The Heroic developers even have an affiliate deal with GOG so they are being indirectly supported by GOG. Let's not forget that GOG isn't a massive company and they need to prioritize their resources. If they are unable to build and maintain GOG Galaxy for Linux, supporting a third-party launcher so it works well with GOG is just as good.

Here is an interview with the Heroic developers where they talk quite a bit about GOG support:
