dnovraD: Another new direction: Axe Galaxy, throw it out the window, along with any documentation, files, or references to it.
And were GOG actually to do that, then they would probably be going bankrupt shortly thereafter, since a GOG employee admitted on video years ago that way more of GOG's customers do use Galaxy than those who don't, and that majority of GOG's customers are not going to tolerate the loss of Cloud Saves, gameplay-time tracking, and/or Achievements.
Certainly not all GOG customers care about those things, and definitely many on the forums hate some and/or all of those things; but that doesn't change the fact that were GOG to alienate the majority of its customers by totally eliminating Galaxy, then GOG would soon after have major financial problems as a result of that decision.
Having said that, I agree that offline installers should not be made worse than they otherwise would have been due to Galaxy files being included in them.
Although I don't think Galaxy is
entirely to blame for the issue of GOG's offline installers not being that great.
They would still be crappy bin files even if Galaxy was never a thing.
They'd still have number discrepancies which make them a pain to use even if Galaxy was never a thing.
They'd still be needlessly divided into multiple parts, instead of being just one single file, as they should be, even if Galaxy was never a thing, etc. etc.
So let's not scapegoat Galaxy for something that has many problems irrespective of Galaxy's existence or non-existence.
