Desura and Shinyloot have their own awesomely unique library of games. Have you tried out those sites? :)

Desura? I thought that one had gone bankrupt.I still own thirty or so games there. Butt that "afterthought" is often real.
Many Kickstarters who promise DRM-free think they can get away with Steam-Only and are pounced upon by outraged backers. Steam is incompatible with DRM-free imho, even though they claim otherwise. You still need that accursed client.

If a game is not multiplayer where the user base is very important, then what's the problem? What's the difference if you play a game now or next year?
DRM-free should be the default and an option day 1 for those who don't support DRM. (which doesn't work).
Once again, Stardew Valley had a simultanous release on steam and gog. :)

I get what you mean, but I rather get it here late than not at all. I don't even look at steam's store at all.

I've never bought a game on steam (even if in the early days, before GOG, I bought games on other sites that needed steam), but yesterday I've bought one.

A very sexy and juicy tank simulation, that I'm cracking open.
I'm faithful to GOG as much as I can, but is so lacking on genres I play, that sometimes I buy games only because they are 1£.

For example: there are indie simulations, but why they don't bother to add here?

It's the recycling effect. Release on Steam, rack in money, dump your game on GOG and collect the bread crumb sales.
Actually I don't mind. My dream always was that GOG would get games about 3 years after release, complete with all DLCs. I don't really care about day 1 stuff anyway. I have a large enough backlog.
