Say that I buy candy on a Monday and sit down with it while playing a game, I'm not enjoying it.

Perhaps. When I was a kid I only got candy for Friday and/or Saturday, because on those days there was something called "Disney Dags" (Disney Time) on TV.
As the name suggests, it was an half hour-hour long program that ran Winnie the Pooh, Ducktales and Rescue Rangers along with some short movies like Pluto.
Those were the days.
