EDIT I managed to fix it.

And it was other users who bumped this thread just now.

It says, you can't play Diablo around Christmas time.

Elmofongo: Than my brother offered me the official blizzard downloader for the digital version of this game (Blizzard sells its classic games DRM Free)
FYI, Blizzard lets you claim a free digital version if you've still got your serial key from your physical copy. Blizzard really is weird in this way; most of the stuff prior to Starcraft 1 they either don't sell at all or are giving away for free, every from Starcraft 1 to Warcraft 3 is DRM free and you can reclaim your game if you've still got your serial key, and everything post-WoW is always-online DRM. Talk about extremes!

I did some Googling, and it seems to be an issue with having multiple monitors. Here's a support thread on Blizzard's forums with a few suggestions for workarounds.
I gave up trying to play it on wide screen. Yes there are work-arounds but it's just not worth it.
Are you using a Glide wrapper for Diablo II? The game has no compatibility with modern hardware in Direct3D mode so a wrapper is a must.
You are yet to join the dark side. :P

I see that error... Every time i close the game :P

It's a known error when using Zy-El, however for the base game that's a little different. My suggestion would be to re-install it, since little errors can make the game unstable. I remember years ago the game constantly stalling at certain points, and it seemed the music mpq file was corrupted, which made the game die.

I'd say do a md5 sum on the mpq files and see if they don't match, which would mean simply deleting and re-copying would help (simply overwriting doesn't seem to always work)

note: This is LoD 1.09d and the Zy-El patched file, so dll's and exe files have a low chance of matching if you keep the game up to date :P while the MPQ's should be mostly untouched.

I apoligize for saying this but I managed to fix the game. I found the best possible video to fix it during the time I was waiting for any replies.

Well at least I got something good out of all this.

I have the official DRM Free Digital Version so I don't have to use a CD so loading times will now be faster.

So again I apoligize for any person's time wasted.

I just hated the fact that a game that I had installed on my PC for awhile now and played and beaten all of a sudden does not work.

I love how Blizzard allows users to reclaim theirs physical copies of classic Blizzard's games (Starcraft 1, Diablo 2+LOD, Warcraft 3 RoC+TFT).
Reclaimed my Warcraft 3 discs recently. Very nice. :)

Blizzard would score sooo many points in my book if they released patches to enable widescreen resolutions in WC2, WC3, Starcraft and Diablo1&2.

Or perhaps it's a Necromancer's curse.

didn't one of the later patches removed the need to have the cd in your disc drive to start the game?
as far as a i can remember, you could just install the game, connect to battle.net to download the latest patch, and then just play the game from your hard drive (without needing the CD).

it is pretty much DRM-free in my book :)

I think 1.11 removed the cd requirement, but i had to get a no-cd crack for my 1.09d, and copy all the files to the local directory...
