Linko64: By being one of the most highly marketed products in the last few years, including major brand deals with some of the largest corporations in the world. Gotcha!

Brittney Spears promoted Pepsi, but she also drank coke

JakobFel: Marketing is hardly hypercapitalism. When I use that term, I'm talking about legitimate, modern megacorps, not specifically all companies that are larger than small businesses.

No one is saying you can't enjoy the game, but you seem to be treated like some profound middle finger to everything the game ultimately represents, even if it was not intended.

Again, marketing and merchandising is way different from the perspective I hold. There's a significant difference between making a profit and exploiting everyone and everything to milk your products dry.

Well, I hope someday we run into each other in some form. Genuinely interested in your view of how Cyberpunk making a statement against our current society. I feel like your overlooking stuff mainly because you like it. Devoted allegiance to brands has always plucked my curiosity!

Anothername: Obviously. I have no idea what topic that was and the only recent locked topics I see are not from gog and the only political hot potato among them is the Palestine thread. And thats not about a gog bundle.
It was the Palestine topic, OP and some other commenters objected to it in pretty strong terms.

The tinges of sarcasm make me wonder if any of that statement is genuine but yeah, I won't explain some of the reasons here because it definitely would delve into political territory lol

Far from it, I tend to have a lot of these interactions with people on my Discord or Twitch. I don't see you or your view as any less than anyone elses. I'm just very curious to how people have differing views based on their enjoyment of something!

Thanks. I was half suspecting the pride threat because OP spoke bundles/sales but since that ain't locked... well, makes sense the other bit the bullet. As said; hot potato. And as important as it is that people speak about the humanitarian problems down there; the calm, open minded and composed demeanor of the common big gaming community ain't really the place to do so effectively :P
I just wanted to thank in public OP to share the information for the bundle of itch.io for Palestinian Aid https://itch.io/b/902/indie-bundle-for-palestinian-aid, bought it, a decent amount of drm-free games, some nice titles and the money is to buy food and medicines (or they said that). I donn´t see the deleted posts so i don´t know what they said and if there were for deleted by Staff, so i can't position myself if the decision was correct.

Regards!

The thread wasn't deleted, it was locked, with due reason.

Vendor-Lazarus: You're missing the point. Why allow it, and even post it themselves, then lock, censor, and ban the topic when people express their opinion about said topic?
Is it possible the support team's focus is on support tickets because it's a corporate KPI compared to moderating forums? In other words, not enough staff to supervise the forums efficiently and effectively. A mod could realistically spend an hour a day checking through flagged reports, compose brief comments, and quickly lock and issue bans reactively. This would be more efficient than proactively checking forums every 2 hours for 20 minutes at a time and locking topics before they get out of hand when they could be prioritizing other business tasks instead.

Just like the other poster, in that what you said have nothing to do with what I said.

GOG says no politics, then posts a political "awareness" schtick. GOG allows a political itch.io bundle to remain up, while deleting posts that point out the other side of the issue. Having it both ways, but only positively applied to "their side", is hypocrisy. No?

Did something change? I believe your OP was:
avatar
Vendor-Lazarus: Where is the logic in allowing political posts/promo's/bundles/sales/etc, then removing, banning or locking the obvious discussion that follows?
So mods could take an hour out of their 8 hours day to view the topics, check that it's not heated (yet), leave, come back to a dumpster fire in 24 hours, and then proceed to reactively warn, ban, delete posts, etc. It's possible "their side" was more aligned with the rules than not. We'd have to look at the deleted posts to understand if their moderation was fair or not. Maybe you might want to consider archiving your posts for community review of their hypocrisy instead of claiming without any proof.

Also, there's an inherent assumption here that the initial topic idea was political. Sometimes the idea is non-political in nature and users here will go out of their way to derail and politicize topics. Again, have to judge on a case-by-case basis.

It may not be inherently but for example media all over has made Pride month political in nature and LGBTQ+ political in nature and then you have thanks to moral busy bodies of the modern age when someone reasonably questions specific things get called varies ists and phobies it thereby is political in nature from context outside the site making specific topics from contexts underling political as a result.. meaning for example the bundle/game thing they have advertising games for pride month is hypocritical in that context .. Do I believe it is meant as political ? No ! But do I believe its political for current context of media and moral busy bodies using baseless claims against people? Yes I do! This is the situation for saying no politics is allowed causes when things are made political from context elsewhere

These are reasonable points. If you're ever in the company of people who think one word labels like shills, racists, -phobes, terrorists, SJWs, snowflakes, idiots, etc. are justified to shut down well-reasoned opinions, then those people are in the wrong. It's completely anti-intellectual.

I understand this issue is about the itch.io bundle for Palestinian aid. Giving food relief to displaced people shouldn't be a political issue because legally these issues are classified as either acts of God or force majeure. The posts are deleted now, so I can only give my benefit of the doubt and be impartial. But it's a shame a thread based on goodwill devolved into one needing to be locked.
