I don't buy new releases very often but I'll be splashing out on this

Crisco1492: I didn't mind when the VN uncensors were free. The last batch with their $5 uncensor... that's just not worth it. In the day of xVideos and PornHub, who needs to pay $5 for still images?
Like DRM, what's the harm if it doesn't bother you now? It's not like i don't know, businesses go out of business and sooner or later those downloads will end up disappearing leaving you with games that can't be uncensored simply because they can't host the files anymore?

And it's not like they aren't taking a huge chunk of content out of the game, perhaps one of the main selling points...

And in an age with auto updaters where it might re-download the entire game removing the patch, it isn't like we wouldn't want the content always there or being removed unexpectedly (like perhaps on steam or Galaxy?)

But nevermind that... Let's sell the sanitized versions anyways, because think of the kiddies...

rtcvb32: Yes.... They are censoring VN's so don't expect any special treatment.

NuffCatnip: I'm sick and somewhat bored, so I decided to look around a bit on their official twitter. :P

Q:
Any other platforms or sites you’re gunna release on without censorship from the start?
A:
All other platforms have allowed it (with the exception of GOG I believe) in the past. Even Humble have been total bros about it. So, it'll most definitely be available day one.

Sounds like it will make its way to gog.

Crisco1492: Would they bring HunieCam too? I find it strange that that game's not here if they plan on bringing HuniePop 2.
Sorry, no idea.
I admit I cracked a smile when I saw this game has a Muslim female character who "works in airport security" and is "sexually repressed", lol.

The scale trending towards madness will hit an end-run sooner or later. Give it another 10 years and all these people will be wearing sheer white pantaloons and going door to door for Jesus. Mark my fucking words.

When it takes less than two minutes to bypass the censorship, and the bypass is free, that seems like a reasonable tradeoff compared to requiring credit/ID cards as verification of age before the games are sold. If GOG were forced to region-lock games with adult scenes to comply with local laws (and it's possible; under applicable law here I shouldn't even be able to access the adult VNs and games with nudity here), that would be a much worse situation.

But when companies start charging half the price of the base game, it is a different animal. It's saying, "We are deliberately selling you an incomplete version to earn extra money" rather than "We are selling you an incomplete version, but one that you can complete for free, to protect you and us from legal consequences." The former positions the customer as a patsy; the latter positions the customer as somewhat of an equal.

That's not to say i wouldn't prefer games to be uncensored out of the box, but given the choice between free uncensor packs and paid ones, the choice is clear.

You're talking to someone who thinks the 1st Amendment should protect harassment and death threats.

Breja: I'm starting to think we could use a separate sub-store for this... stuff. GOGhub. Gooey Otaku Games. Something like that.
Yeah they could put it at the back of the store ans separate it with a beaded curtain.
I asked the question many times on Twitter to the creator of the game, and got no reply or know of anything on platforms for the game. I am sure Humble bundle will get it like the other 2 did. Hunipop 1 on Humble Bundle has full nudity and not censored.

Here is hoping we do get it but have to put a file or patch to make it full again.

You completely missed the point.

Nothing is forever. Eventually the bypass/patch/fix will be gone as the companies fade away.

I suppose some data will last forever as torrents, assuming it's seeded... maybe?

I keep an archive on a NVME of all sorts of patches and a back up of other stuff on a Blu ray disc that has almost 100 year expected life span. I am sure this wont be an issue with most.

Some people are wreck less and wont save it for future use but people who are smart will.

JackBurton.: Hey GOG...my wife ask "are u gnna censor huniepop 2?"...thx
avatar
tinyE: I would imagine it's going to be like #1. Censored with an easy patch to install. Pretty sure that's what Steam is doing, if they in fact carry it.

No big deal for me.

It took less that 30 seconds to patch the first one.
Why did i know you would be the first one to post here...? *wink*

And in the cases of the games available here, the bypasses are provided directly by the developers and thus would presumably be updated over time. We're not talking about DRM hacks, which are done by third parties and within specific environments.

And really, how much trouble is creating a dummy file? Back in the day I was getting Illusion games to run on a US-localed laptop. Creating a blank dummy file is nothing.
I got stuck on the first one.

AlienMind: more importantly, will have a drm free humble widget up again so they get 25% more of my money.

oh and huniepop was not censored after i bought it through the drm free humble widget on their site back in the day. seeing as it was censored here, i definitely am going for the correct store.
It's rather ironic that GOG, the store of DRM-free, is one of the last bastions of censorship in PC gaming, while Steam allows uncensored adult games.
