theclaw.661: Does this mean Humble has business operations in every state?

I don't know if it should be VAT specifically, but I'm in favor of the US adopting a tax code closer to international standards. To be honest I've never heard of any other nation on Earth as convoluted. Different rates in 50-plus states and territories, with the ability for innumerable local governments to tack on additional tax.
Even attempting to force a unified taxation would likely result in civil war and the country breaking up.

wanderer_27: Single purchase from the Store?
Yes, as I said that will be taxed.

Humble Monthly, that will be taxed too.
Crap, my mistake, I misinterpreted your post...But yeah, I would not mind taxes with proper implementation such as with Western and Northern Europe; but for us, we have literally built up a perfect system for abuse with the implementation of our tax dollars...Plus, taxing video-game downloads defeat the purpose of that store's sale prices.

Why should I pay:

$35-20%=$28 <==(For the original special...)

+10%Tax =$30.8 <==(As the taxed total...)

...when I could simply go elsewhere and get the actual 20% off deal? It's fuckin' idiotic to say the least! Again, I don't mind taxes as it's vital in keeping our nation funded, it's just that the US has abused it for their own political interests...Take PA. for instance, they have literally wiped out their public school funds due to shitty spending!

No argument from me.

It used to be Inter-State sales were not taxed (still aren't in a lot of cases).

My only saving grace with HB is that as a HB Monthly subscriber you get an additional 10% off at the Store - so it pretty much ends up a wash for me for the most part.

Lol, what a bunch of morons...They entirely defeated their own purpose for even offering that subscription!

EDIT: Ignore==>I blame IGN as they're AAA gaming review-whores anyways, they would sell lootboxes to their fuckin' review site if they could, I knew humble would be shit once they sold out to those pricks!...<==Ignore :EDIT

At least we have gog, and the like!

In all fairness, this took effect several months before the IGN deal.

YES! I knew it! Humble started doing the monthly in December 2015, and got bought up by IGN in October 2017. Clearly IGN have invented a time machine to put this in action. the basterds. it all makes sense now!

The joke is too late as the error has already been recognized and edited as such...But I still love the satirical comment though.

Like I said before. That is how the US works. Advertising taxes included in prices (as in every rational country in the world) is completely futile and should frankly not even be suggested for humorous purposes without a firm enough tongue in cheek to show one's kidding, when the tax rate differs not only between 50 states, but infinitesimal counties and municipal levels.

Actually, look at movie tickets. They don't charge tax on the tickets but are marked up quite a bit. I just placed a order for 5 tickets via amex and there was a $6.something service fee, making it about $.30 more than if 7% was applied to the cost. Concessions too don't charge tax to my knowledge but are marked up quite a bit. Bad example? Yes. Included in prices? most likely.

blotunga: 10% sales tax, that would be nice. Try 24% VAT.
avatar
amund: We have 25% VAT except for books that's 8%.
27% here, I won the sad life competition

Don't accept it. Use it as an excuse to overthrow your government!

Viva la Resolution!

I'm in favor of a flat tax as well, but much more a fan of 100% transparency as to where each of my sales/etc tax dollars go, and not the default city/state slush funds as that has been abused just as much as anything in our nation's business/government interests go! Until our nation's business/government leaders act the part, I'll take the position of not trusting anything said by these pricks as valid!

GR00T: Aren't there a few states with no sales tax, like Oregon?

zeogold: Yup.
Buncha cheaters.
This.. this is me. xD
I'm pretty sure they don't have a choice about charging state sales tax under certain conditions and circumstances.
