DO NOT CLICK THE BLUE BUTTON in the download options of your games. Instead, download your files from the "download offline backup game installers" section right bellow the aforementioned blue button.
Why would you tell them not to click the blue button? Rather explain what both options are. Just because you don't like Galaxy doesn't mean you should tell others who don't know not to use it. Some people may want to use it, and it seems to be GOG's preferred distribution.
To the OP, clicking the blue download and install button will install the optional Galaxy client. Many users, particularly on this forum are more old school. However, Galaxy is a mostly functional client that can be used to access your library and play your games, or back up the installers. You don't need to use it to access your library, but it is the only way to keep games automatically updated if that is your desire.
