why waste your life doing something for entertainment that you dont enjoy? watch a lets play to see how it ends and move on
XD Been there. Sometimes I have to quit or risk blowing my brains out.
If I finish this game, I'll make myself a plate of brownies. :)

Are you on a particular title like this right now?

Right now I'm on Syberia 1 but it's painfully boring for some reason. I love puzzle games but this game doesn't make you think a lot and I haven't always been the biggest book reader, which is what this seems like to me. Just interactive fiction.

Rewards...hmmm....I like that approach, but knowing me, I would just reward myself with brownies prematurely which would diminish the purpose of the whole thing. ;p

but then it'll just stain my library with it's incompleteness and it'll eternally haunt my soul forever more...

1.Stop playing.
2.Uninstall.
3.If that game was free in some promo go to 4. If I paid for it go to 5.
4.Be glad I didn't pay money for that crap
5.If I paid a lot go to 6. If I paid just a little go to 7.
6.Be pissed off for a while and think of something much better I could have bought for that money.
7.Be glad that at least I didn't waste too much money.
8.Find a better game.

I stop playing, life's too short to waste it on such bad games.
But if you really want to, try to analyze the game's flaws, make notes about it etc., then write a devastating review.

Then hide it, and leave only completed/good games in your library.

Hate that, but for me the only solution is grit my teeth and actually complete such game no matter what. The relief feeling which comes later is amazing though.

Well you've got to bake them first....

That's the thing though, if I even fathom the idea to reward myself after I complete the game, then I will end up saying fuck that and making them and eating them anyway. lmao

If you don't enjoy this game, it probably makes no sense to continue punishing yourself. Sometimes we must do what we must in order to attain a worthwhile goal. We study, we invest, we do all these things what are hard but will benefit us in the future. Completing one's games collection is not a real benefit, it's an arbitrary goal. Think about it, if in the past you didn't add that game to your collection, this issue wouldn't have arisen. It feels good to complete stuff, that's our reptilian brain talking. Watching a number go up is oh so pleasant. But you are probably better off not following your instincts on that one. Completionism is such a fundamental thing that it's being taken advantage of over and over in games. It's forcing us to spend time doing something we dislike for a few molecules of dopamine in the end. And then we regret it. This is different from playing a challenging game that you have to practice to finish. In this case it's best to just quit.

You make absolute sense on this one. I will take your advice. So my only option is to sell my whole GOG account on a shady re-seller site or Ebay to redeem myself. Got it. (jk of course) ;) Thanks again. I can now continue living.

If having a particular game on your account bothers you, it is possible to hide it or ask support to remove it. =)

P.S. — I too never finished Syberia back in the day. Still have my CD, but yea, even though I used to enjoy the genre, this particular title felt really boring.
