Trying to find information on this one coming up with no result here is my question:

GOG often sends 20 to up to 50% discounts via mail for many games. Not talking about codes As is often the case it is games of no or not much interest in buying. These mails do contain a link, which, if clicked, must apply this discount to that game or games.

Wishing to gift these if any more offers are made, such as the Outer Worlds one, how can these be posted so that some lucky soul is able to take on that offer?

This question is asked because from personal experience where Gothic Armada I believe it was, I tried gifting it to a friend, sending them the link only to find that game being credited and added to my account instead of theirs. I hope the discounts offered with a link aren't bound to a personal account and as such can be gifted to another person on this platform should a decision be made to put it on offer.

Maybe they changed the algo and the codes are linked to an account

Those are usually site wide discounts and not personalized. Everybody gets those discounts when they visit the store(like the 50% off for The Outer Worlds).


I can't imagine why a game bought by someone else would get added to your account.

I see, thank you! Well, this was a free game, which - when I had given the link to my friend and they clicked it, was added to my account. And I should have mentioned that ... I just wished to clarify that it is not also the case with discounts and link to game.

Just to clarify and marking yours as answer to my question: Outer Worlds just being an offer anyone subscribed to newsletter is getting - but not in and off itself discounted to 50% - if given that link the next person would receive the discount? Hope I make sense here!
