Hey guys, I’m pretty new to computer games and I’ve been trying to figure this out to no avail. From what I understand it’s possible but everything I’ve tried doesn’t work. Tried copying and moving the files to the gog file, nothing. Tried even installing it on the original disc folder but I keep getting “open gl can’t recognize file” or something like that. Pls help :(

Download the offline installers from the website, under your account, select Diablo, expand offline installers and download the exe (and possible bin files). Store these in one folder (and you can copy them off to a separate hard drive for backup). Now run the exe, under options, ensure that it is installed to c:/mygames, or something like that, never install to program files or x86!
After that you need the files from the website:
https://mod.diablo.noktis.pl/download
And follow the install instructions in the package. I have not used beelzebub, and not got it to hand to be specific.

There are two mods out there though that you may want to consider:
The hell:
https://www.moddb.com/mods/diablo-the-hell
Closer to the original

And the hell 2:
https://www.moddb.com/mods/diablo-the-hell-2
Adds a lot to it.

Same process, install Diablo using offline installers to non windows folders and follow the instructions in the mod.
I just installed the game and copied the Belzebub files and everything works.

On the image you have how does the Diablo folder looks like with Belzebub, also make sure that DIABDAT.MPQ isn't as the shortcut but actually aa a file as written in the read me file, if you have a shortcut only copy DIABDAT.MPQ from dx folder in the root folder, as on the picture, and of course start the game with Belzebub.exe.

If error appears again post image of it.

Is it better now :-)
Thanks guys, I got the hell 2 to work easy. While I’m here how to I adjust the camera zoom level on my character? It’s too far away for my tastes

Been a while since I last played, does middle mouse zoom in and out, if not check the readme. You may need to set a lower resolution to get closer.

As said, lower your resolution, the more you increase the higher is the field of view, and the farther your character is on the screen, quote below is from the readmefile....edit your config.ini file, resolution is at the beginning of the file.
"Resolution. The mod works with resolutions from 800x600 all the way up to 3840x2160 (4K). But I strongly recommend playing in 800x600. It’s the best way to experience full atmosphere. At least, not above 1280x720. The game is not texture based, it’s pixels. Greater resolution doesn’t render it in better quality, it just increases field of view. "

What happened to Belzebub :-)

Anyway, in Diablo forum Mordor, the creator of The Hell mods is also available here, if you have any question regarding the mod if someone doesn't answer I'm sure he will, or I guess you can always PM him.

Every method I try to install belzebub I get different error messages. Most commonly is “open gl unrecognized or version not supported” or missing “example” file. TH2 was easy to install, but I really want to try belzebub

Thats odd. What windows version? I just did:
Download setup_diablo_1.09_hellfire+v2_(30038).exe from here (its on your account, games, download offline installers).
I ran the setup and installed to c:/mygames/diablo
I ran the game and selected Diablo, it ran.
I then download the zip: Release1045.zip from https://mod.diablo.noktis.pl/download
I opened the zip and copied everything in the zip, files and folders, to c:/mygames/diablo/dx
The dx folder is where the DIABDAT.MPQ resides and is necessary for beelzebub to work. In that c:/mygames/diablo/dx I run the Belzebub.exe and it starts up fine, can play the game, though it is windowed. No issues, I am on Win10 64, nothing special. All files needed are in the zip including OpenAL32.dll which is what it sounds like you are missing. Ensure you extract everything from the zip into the dx folder where the diabdat exists.

Adding screenshot of my diablo/dx folder showing the files.
