1070 and 1080 won't reduce prices until the next gen of 11XX comes out.
Hell 1080 is already out for some time and prices of 980 and 980ti locally seems to be frozen.

Elmofongo: Also the PC is at risk overheat shutdown playing the game because I clocked the game at 69 celsius (is that too hot?)
I'm not familiar with the 970 but for a lot of cards that would be too cool and make the card louder than necessary. I would re-enable the auto-shutdown, turning that off is just silly.

As for discounts the GTX 970 wasn't discounted over it's entire lifetime until just before it's successor was released. The GTX 1070 might see a discount if AMD's new Fury cards later this year end up being better or aggressively priced but otherwise expect launch prices to continue to autumn 2017 or early 2018. Although they'll probably close up in price as the stock levels rise and verdicts are given on the best and worst brands.
