Nice one, dude! DRM-free is really a good thing and it's important that more people support it. You won't regret it.

GOG is awesome and the community seems very friendly. As for it not having a lot of newer games: you know what, many of those newer, DRM-laden games are from AAA publishers and aren't even that good anyway. More often than not It seems to be the same dumbed-down, re-hashed shite that prioritizes graphics over gameplay.

I'm really impressed with the range of games GOG has got. I've got over 100 games on my GOG wishlist, most of which look like awesome games and most likely I won't have enough time in my lifetime to play them all. Big deal if a few new AAA games aren't on here.

Besides, I'm a patient person and it's exciting when a 'big' game does eventually get released here. It's like an event.

R-U-N: Thanks man, it's actually really good to see the OG's and the new guys coming together and sort of passing the torch in a positive light. I think it shows that the community is still strong and thriving. There was a time were I feared for GOG's future and existence as a platform but I'm seeing increasingly more titles and it couldn't make me happier, it means it's the right choice to invest in the platform
It's a viable and valuable platform to invest in. Every time you buy a game on GOG, it increases the likelihood of more AAA titles coming here :) Not to mention, while the gaming sub forums tend to be less active than steam, you're more likely to get an actual fix.

Take care and have a great evening :)

BlueMooner: Perhaps one might say that gog has a small town feel where most people know each other, while steam has a big city feel and nobody cares about anybody?

teceem: Or GOG is like a big city where interesting people can be found and Steam is the small town with its lynch mobs, hicks and soccer moms.
Maybe you're both right in a way. GOG is the big city where nobody cares about anybody, and Steam is the small town with its mobs, hicks, and soccer moms.
Welcome!

Best thing about GOG is the friendly, smart, and helpful people. The jerks are here and there, of course -- can't avoid them completely -- but still. Glad to have you.
Hello Run

DRM free is a good start and I am glad you made the switch. Made it myself some years ago and never looked back.

About 8 years now without a single purchase from steam.

On a side note, are you a Scot? No need to answer that, just got a hunch from your thread title :)

Anyways, welcome.
You answered it pretty well yourself, GOG doesn't have that kind of structure. It's also a smaller community.

On the other hand it can take ages to get a response on a game specific board.
