How come GOG doesn't sell the survival game Green Hell (https://greenhell-game.com). It's created by the Polish company Creepy Jar. Does anyone know if it's coming to GOG?

Has anyone reading this played it?

There's a ton of games GOG doesn't sell that seem like they really should be here. There's also quite a lot of games that were released here even though they're rather... odd choices, to put it lightly. On one hand GOG's "curation" is an indecipherable joke, and on the other it seems quite a few indie devs don't want to have anything to do with GOG, though whether that's the DRM-free policy, previous bad experiences or just not wanting to bother for GOG's tiny market share I can't tell. And that's without going into political issues.

The bottom line is - it has become entirely pointless to question why a game isn't here, or whether it might one day come here. You might as well pull out a OUIJA board.

That is mostly true. However, there are exceptions to that during the times where the devs publicly announce that they submitted their game to GOG and then it was rejected by GOG "curation." With examples like that, we can infer the reason why it isn't here (i.e. CountryBall Heroes).

But you are correct that it's pointless asking on GOG forums why a game isn't here, other than in those situations like which I've just described.

GOG staff isn't going ever to answer that kind of question, and forum users aren't ever going to know the answer, unless the dev directly comments on the matter.

Feel free to vote for the game in the community wish list:
https://www.gog.com/wishlist/games/green_hell

You're better off asking the developer or publisher directly whether they're trying to bring their game over to the store. GOG staff are unlikely to comment.

My guess: the devs want to focus on Steam and have no need for the money a GOG release would likely bring (given how well the game is already selling on Steam). Perhaps they don't want the hassle (depending on how hard it actually is) of developing multiplayer for Galaxy.

do you know if multiplayer uses steamworks? sometimes games have servers and dont use it so in that case that wont be an issue.

I don't know for sure but I don't think it's far-fetched to assume it does. I'm certainly willing to be corrected though.

[If we knew how the system worked in any semblance, we'd be able to manipulate it favorably.

As it stands, the curation as a whole is a complete mystery, much like someone whose native tongue is English trying to type Polish.]
