Tech questions that don't relate to a specific game tend to get buried on the general board. Some game forums get taken over by Dosbox vs Linux vs Wine vs Windows 8...

We need a dedicated forum to talk about operating systems, hardware components, and even modern technology...

DDR4 vs DDR5 anyone? or the diff between HDD and SSD? or why Win 7 is still the best OS for old games?

Anyone with me? I really think we need a separate tech forum.

Yes, that’s quite a good idea, collection for links to extensions, physx, and other softwares most games need, perhaps some discussion about various hardware, though if hdd and ssd need explaining I think you are onto a losing cause! I would however advise against topics like “why xyz is best” as that is never going to end well. But for specific tech things, yes. Here is a good example:
https://www.gog.com/forum/general/links_every_gamer_should_have
@OP - If it's related to playing games on a PC in a general sense, at least, then I agree.
Agreed, but before that we need a Forum Games forum to contain the extraneous excess though.
Neither is likely to happen sadly.
Doesn't sound like a bad idea, though GOG would have to upend the current forum structure.
If GOG is going to add new forums, then a hardware/software forum should be the lowest possible one on their priority list.

The #1 new forum it needs is a "forum game/spam" forum, so that all forum game and other sorts of spam get moved there, and stop cluttering this main board with spam.

While I am not against such subforums, I don't feel they are really needed here.

There are lots of forums to discuss about PC hardware in general and operating systems. If I need information or suggestions on PC hardware, I quite often head to local (Finnish) hardware forums anyway because then the suggestions on what to buy and WHERE to buy are more relevant to me. It doesn't really help me if RadioShucks in Ontario, Australia is having a special sale on certain monitor model.

So, a lukewarm "whatever" from me.

How about a dedicated Linux subforum first? You know, since gog supposedly supports Linux? Currently, Linux (and wine, which is sort of Linux-related, even though it works on MacOS as well) are relegated to two completely unusable massive threads that I refuse to participate in. It would make the anti-Linux trolls' lives easier as well, since they know where to send their trollbots and it's not like the moderators moderate Linux threads, anyway.

I don't disagree but I don't see GOG implementing this any time soon.

If nothing else, perhaps you could create your own forum for free, or a subreddit if that works (create your own or perhaps there's already one that's appropriate)
Lets face it, they really need to install new forum software to be able to cater to things properly like decent sub forums, way it is at the moment doesnt work. Its been years and heaps of people have asked but it feels its always too low on priority list of stuff to be done .Maybe its in too hard basket as it seems this forum had been custom made judging from past comments
One of the drawbacks that this would have is that not everyone will read this subforum if it would exist. Currently, tech threads are visible to everyone in the general section, but they would become less visible and read as soon as a separate subforum would be created.
