Awesome saucem.

The rapid development pace is remarkable, for all Linux gaming for that matter.

Edit: Just to mention as there is some discussion - Galaxy currently has the advantage of getting achievements, and some multiplayer gaming that is implemented through Galaxy (personally only ever encountered this with Grim Dawn crossplay with a Steam buddy). And that's it. Heroic has pretty much everything else, and those two things are coming to Heroic too. It's called comet, and it's in beta I believe.

Timboli: Can Heroic download Offline Installers, without installing, and do file verification checking?
Maybe we'll get that one day as they started a partnership, maybe gog will give them the tools to get a better implantation in Heroic game launcher so we might see more GOG features in the future

P-E-S: Neat to see this still going strong. :) Especially for the more Linux-minded folks. That said, anyone have experience with both Heroic and Galaxy? Just wonder what people's takeaway might be.
I do. Heroic has lacked some features like cloud save support, achievements and time tracking. These features are still kind of wonky at times, but they're getting better. I use Galaxy through Proton on my Steam Deck and it is not a bad set-up. Takes a little bit of extra effort, but my games install and play well, and where cloud save support is an issue, it works. The achievements and time tracking work well also.
Why would one need a Launcher for games?

Maxvorstadt: Why would one need a Launcher for games?
*looks at his SSD* When you've got 400+ worth of games installed at the same time... ;)

Maxvorstadt: Why would one need a Launcher for games?
Because one wants to.

Pax-Christi: I don't believe so, no. But you can backup the installed games onto a separate drive, and if anything happens, just import them back to Heroic later.
Okay, thanks.
I'd also rather have a proper Offline Installer, just in case of dependencies (Registry entries etc) and especially due to storage size, and quick & simple of course.

One can hope ... so long as it is better than Galaxy ... less bloated etc ... especially if it supports Resume and has good multi-stream options.

Glad this is finally out, but it looks like there are still issues with refreshing. Their github has a fix planned for no games showing up on boot because of it needs refresh but it doesn't change the fact that whatever they are pulling from does not play nice with vpns and will make your library disappear if you are connected to one. Not sure what the issue is since that gog script for dling local launchers works fine under the same conditions.
