I’m a Linux user, but unfortunately GOG still provides little support for games on this platform. I was recommended to use the Heroic Games Launcher; however, since it’s not an official tool, I’m concerned whether using it could cause any issues with GOG. Could using Heroic Games Launcher result in my account being banned?

You won't have any problems using the Heroic Launcher. Many users here do use it.

You have nothing to worry about, Heroic has been unofficially been recognised by GOG and even uses the GOG API's that Galaxy uses so it is almost 100% feature parity, only missing being able to download the offline installers.

Some have even suggested to GOG that they discontinue Galaxy and support Heroic since it seems to have overtaken Galaxy in a few areas such as Linux usage.

You also have Lutris, Mini Galaxy, Gamehub (may be defunct), along with several terminal style projects made by the community so GOG seems perfectly fine with people making alternative methods to access game libraries.

If I'm not wrong, Heroic has support from GOG.

It also work with cloud saves and achievements if this is something you are looking for.

I was able to run GOG Galaxy on SteamDeck so using Wine is tricky workaround as well.
Thanks, I’ll start using it then to play on Linux.

The only support Heroic gets from GOG is that they are allowed to use sponsored links to GOG store. Presumably they get a bit of money when a sale is done that way.

That’s all, they do not get anything else from GOG.

Consider supporting Heroic a little bit by buying games through their GOG affiliate link:

Can I get banned for using Heroic?

- It is unlikely that you will get banned for using Heroic to launch games from the Epic Games Store or GOG.
- However, please note that certain actions, such as cheating or violating the terms of service for a particular game, may result in a ban. It is important to follow the rules and guidelines of each game and store in order to avoid any issues.
- Some games also might ban you if you are trying to run the game on a non-supported operating system using Wine or Proton, for example.
i've been checking out Zorin as a first linux try-out and if you look at their site they look so official with Steam and Gog and itchio official banners and even a textual confirmation you can play all of your games, faster better and safer
Some links and download info., and some discussion:

Heroic Games Launcher wont get u in trouble at all, neither will Lutris or play.it.
HC is excellent for integrated GOG syncing if u want achviements & playtime etc for ur profile.
Lutris dont have comet integration which ve been told is the reason why it cant sync, But u can play ur GOG with all of these and others too perfectly fine and legal! It depends what ur after tbh.
HC is the only one for Linux users that can get ur profile to show the achievments etc u get and such stuff, and they have deal with GOG so they earn a bit if u buy GOG games directly from the client launcher.

I use HC when I want some achviements and playtime to go on my profile, and otherwise mainly Lutris for easy automatic play b/c it just works. Lutris runs more smooth and stable and is a bit more lightweight than HC for me.
Additionally u can run with default wine or play.it and skip launchers alltogether if u dont care about launchers:)

Thanks for clarifying.
Obligatory "you do know you don't have to use a launcher, right?" post.
