Hello!

Can someone tell me how to adjust the Monitor properly?

Where a smooth Color gradient should be i see all the different colors instead.
So for example, from a black shadow to a candlelight in a video, i see black blocks, then some brighter blocks where the light should be.

Or in games and pictures there are those "stripes" of different colors where a smooth color gradient should be displayed.

I tried to play around with the monitor settings and the nvidia settings but i can´t find a proper solution.
I can only make it slightly better.

GPU is a RTX 2070
And the Monitor is a Asus ROG PG278QR

Those monitor cofig images didn´t help...
rtx 2070? lmao you got enough money just pay someone to do it for you.

Since i payed the 2070 i don´t have any money left. lol
If you have windows 10 you can go to Color Management and then choose Advanced and then Calibrate display. Try this, also most graphic cards come with software for fine tuning every aspect of them located in taskbar.

Thank you, i already used this options to make it a little bit better. But still it isn´t "perfect".

It's a TN panel, so you're likely not going to get good results with color gradients. They report millions of colors, but TN panels can only show a few hundred thousand colors and causes the crappy gradient color jumps.

Have you tried different more on the display? Scenery/Racing/Cinema/RTS/RPG/FPS/sRGB Modes/User Mode

You may get better results on other modes. But also, you might not.

Aha, so it is the Monitor. I wasn´t sure...
The old one had the same "issue".

Yes, i tried the other display settings, but they didn´t change much.

Thank you for the help, sir!

Every time I have hooked up a new monitor, usually goes into sleep mode and holy smacker isn't that a pain.Good luck:)
This screen is using a TN display so its colour range is kinda limited, but many modern ones are way better than they used to be, and according to the ASUS site is should be able to deliver 8bit/colour. You will probably never get a perfectly smooth gradient but with images or games it shouldn't be too visible. If the banding is that strong I would suspect other causes.

First thing that comes to mind: Is the screen set to YCbCr by any chance? Could happen if it's connected over HDMI, less likely over DP or DVI. That's a limited colour mode (not using the traditional 0-255 colour values but 16-235), mostly used by TVs, could additionally be labelled 444,422 or maybe 420 as well (doesn't matter, all are wrong).
If enabled on the wrong screen it leads to heavy banding and usually a too bright and washed out image.
It should be set to (full) RGB Mode instead. Dunno where to change it in the Nvidia settings tho...
Yeah, that's something. Make sure you're using you display port cables. Even hdmi is too limited at that resolution.

Thanks!

I looked it up and i already turned the Nvidia Color setting on. (32Bit, 8bpc, RGB and full dynamic something, dont know how it is called in english)

And i just stunbled upon a review, and the guy called it "Color Banding" and i think i´ve done all to make it look better.

But to be clear: It isn´t superbad, i think i am just picky about this.

thanks for the help guys!
I tried something:
I plugged the old monitor in so that i have a direct comparison.
Guys... i am shocked. The old one has, in comparison with the new Monitor, no colors!
No wonder i am confused with the new one, since it is obviousle way better then the old one.
Jebus H. Kreis, little did i know how big the difference can be.

Thanks everyone!

For future reference, if you ever have trouble like this again, look into adjusting the color calibration of the monitor.
