I don't think Kingpin, Red Faction and Beneath a Steel Sky support controllers.
Though I don't know for sure, mind you.
(I would never play First Person Shooters or Point-and-click-adventures with a controller...but to each their own,
I guess)
Why not look in the games' specific subforums?

EDIT: I don't know, if this works with the GOG version, but...maybe have a look:

This is a point and click adventure. It probably did have joystick support back in the day as a lot of early-to-mid-nineties adventure games did, but if you got it working I doubt it would provide the experience you're hoping for. Do you enjoy moving a cursor around with a joystick?

Yes, I would simply repeat what the others have said before:
Kingpin: Life of Crime, Red Faction, these are First Person shooters (and old ones at that), so using a mouse + keyboard is the best way to play them. If you have to play with controller (and you will likely not enjoy it) it has no lock on or targetting help like on console.
METAL GEAR SOLID - I don't know
Beneath a Steel Sky - This is a point and click adventure, best again to use mouse to p&c.

Of course, if you want to make life difficult and use a controller and the games do not have the option, you can use an intermediary tool like anti-micro:
https://github.com/AntiMicro/antimicro
With this you can map inputs to controller buttons.
Buy and play games on a console maybe?
I hear they all support controllers natively.
