I need help. I'm trying to mod No One Lives Forever 2 to remove the hud. So far, I'm not having much luck.

I installed a widescreen mod which includes a command (RightHudPush) to put in the autoexec.cfg. Using that with a value of 200 moves the ammo count off screen, but I can't figure out how to get rid of the left side (health and armor bars and notification icon).

I found this site which mentions a NOLF 2 Tool Kit, but all the links I've found to that are dead:
https://arstechnica.com/civis/viewtopic.php?f=22&t=688679

The thing that interests me most is the development version of the lithtech.exe file. I'm hoping it's similar to the devmode mod for Fear which let me toggle the hud on/off with F3. Does anyone know where I can find that development lithtech.exe?

There are some other tools out there, but I tried one and it just crashed. Another had a variety of tools to unpack rez files and view DTX files (which might work as a last resort), but some of those files show up as having trojans when scanned with the virustotal website.

Assuming I can edit the DTX files, how do I create a mod with modified textures? I did tests with other DTX files I found by putting them in the mod directory I was using (and following the game's folder structure and file names), but the game didn't load the replacement textures.

Ideally, I'd like to avoid having to edit any image files though.

I also found a VR mod for NOLF2 that says it includes a hud toggle option (bound to F3), but I don't have a VR headset. I just want to play in widescreen (so, whatever method I use needs to work with that widescreen mod). I tried running it anyway, but it messed up the game to the point where it wouldn't run any more and I had to reinstall.

It's getting annoying now to try and find the tools and tutorials for older games even with the more popular ones like Half Life.
While you're here, how do you fix the slowdown bug for the Mime bossfight? I had the complete download setup, but thanks to that damned boss fight I got stopped.
I won't post a link here since it's against forum rules, but someone rebuilt all the NOLF games to run on modern machines and has them available for free to download. The tool you are looking for is embedded in the installer. If you do own a legal copy I see nothing wrong with you using the rebuilt version.

I tried that one, but it never unpacked any tools. It just asked me if I wanted to unpack the game files and then crashed when I clicked yes.

You could try to open the setup file with 7-Zip, extract all the files and run the extracted setup.

Hello!

Did you find any method to remove the HUD from NOLF 2? I'm also very interested in taking some clean screeshots of this game without any intrusive HUD elements getting in the way. Any tips will be appreciated.

My thanks in advance!

No, I haven't, at least not really. I ended up working around it by running the game without the widescreen mod and then editing the config file and setting the vertical resolution to 1440 (instead of 1080). Then, the game loads with more vertical resolution than the monitor can display. Moving the mouse up / down can allow you to center it and play to a point, but if you move the mouse too much, it messes it up again. If you take a screenshot, it will be 1920x1440, but the hud elements are far enough to the top and bottom that the image can then be edited to crop those out and make a wallpaper that is 1920x1080 and looks like it's hud-free.

That doesn't properly adjust the fov for the weapon model though, so once you crop the image, less of the weapon will be showing.

That's the only way I've found to get hud-free screenshots.

Also, this only seems to work in Windows XP. In later versions of Windows the whole image is crammed into the viewing area of the monitor. So 1920x1440 doesn't act the same in Windows 7 as it does in Windows XP. It leaves black bars on the sides instead of cutting off the top and bottom. It may also only work with Nvidia drivers in Windows XP.

Here's a screenshot I took years ago when I was trying to figure this out. First one is normal, second one is cropped.
