arhodes8809: Thanks for the suggestions. I've played all of these except for drakensang. Tell me more about it?
I'll just add to Breja's comment that Drakensang is based on a game called Das Schwarze Auge(The Black Eye), which afaik, is very similar to D&D. Either Drakensang or The River of Time had an add-on called Phileasson's Secret. You can buy it on Steam. As for graphics, I think it still looks good.
Y'all are a great community. Thanks for the help.

I also tried Wizadry 8 but it keeps crashing -I've got windows 10. I posted for help in that forum. I also tried Wizards and Warriors, which seems cool, but the combat is kinda sloppy so far. Maybe I just haven't gotten used to it.
What are yalls thoughts on these?

As a side note I really love the hand painted classic fantasy look of some of these older classic games. I give a game brownie points for nailing this look. Hahaha

arhodes8809: Hm, I've read about this -but never got into the roman setting and lack of creatures. I like my RPGs as classic D&D as possible. Is it as good as folks say huh? I'm partial to first person RPGs, but I guess I can't be too picky huh?

Is there a classic first person RPG that has what Age of Decadence does?
I don't think AoD is quite what you're looking for, and it has flaws (if you don't know what you're doing, you can easily create a crippled character that can't advance anymore). But it's a really unique game and the basic concept is brilliant imo. It really plays differently depending on your character build and choices in the plot. Also refreshingly "realistic"...you can do heroic things and (sometimes) help people, but it's harder than being a selfish bastard :-)

BrinkJ: If you're looking for a classic PC RPG, the Ultima series is pretty great from what I hear. I'm going to dive into it once I get through another similar game, but it is the earliest RPG series besides Wizardry and is the granddaddy of all RPGs. In many ways the games have not been surpassed. Not sure how much roleplaying and party management there will be. Ultima 7 is the cream of the crop, and is the best starting point. Important point: Read the manuals. These old complex games actually have required reading!
If you are going to play the Ultima series, I would suggest starting with 3 or 4, as those games (especially 4) are the first games in the series where the series has established its identity.

Also, I should point out that Ultima 7 has horrible combat, far worse than that of Ultima 3 through 6.

Also, if you haven't played Wizardry 6 or 7, maybe try giving those games a try? I note that these two games each have multiple endings, each of which translates to a different beginning for the sequel.
To add on to what people have said about Age of Decadence: AoD is basically designed around two ideas--choice and consequence, and challenging turn-based combat. It is possible to entirely avoid combat (in fact, I'd recommend avoiding it as much as possible when you're new to the game unless you like dying a lot), especially if you play as, say, a merchant. The choice and consequence is what initially attracted me to the game, though I ended up enjoying the combat, too, once I got the hang of it and learned to min-max.
What is unique about Age of Decadence is that you play one of eight roles in an interlocking storyline, and you can play each of these eight roles in a variety of ways, and even switch factions midstream to enter into another role's storyline. It requires real intelligence and work to make the best decisions, since you not only have to choose the skills that will allow you to succeed, but you also have to figure out who is lying to you, cheating you, or otherwise misusing you. The opening town, for example, features a girl being threatened by a soldier. If you help the girl, you'll find out your purse is missing. If you realize what she's up to and demand her money instead, she'll lead you into an ambush. You can also play dirty tricks on your opponents, of course, particularly if you play as a grifter. Depending on your choices, wars can be won and lost, a city destroyed, leaders deposed, and so forth.
The game does have flaws, including an ending that's not quite as good as what comes before, but what it offers is fairly unique.
If you like first person D and D rules and enjoy the Wizardry series, I assume you've played the Eye of the Beholder series? If not, GOG has them as a pack (Forgotten Realms collection one). It does tend to get more action-y with more dungeon-crawling and less problem solving with character abilities, however.

In terms of feeling like one is on an adventure, I hear that Betrayal at Krondor is a good game for this. I don't think that character abilities are used much, however; I haven't played it myself.
Thought of another idea.

Dragon Wars gives you a party of 4 adventurers (using a classless skill-point based system), is non-linear, and gives you multiple solutions to many of the game's problems. In particular, you start in the prison known as Purgatory, but there are multiple ways to escape (one of which isn't possible on a first playthrough). It's a rather interesting game, and one that not many people know about. It's been compared to the Bard's Tale series, but the game is actually quite different, with less dungeon crawling and building power and more using skills and items to solve puzzles.

Nightblair: Quest for Glory series?

It's even graphical/text adventure in the EGA version.
Heroine's Quest a free game is as good as the actual quest for glory games as well

Geneforge series (Great if you like Arcanum or the Fallout 1 and 2 I feel)

Deus ex (Not exactly an RPG but can be played as stealthy or combat)

Also MAYBE Darksun, but that could be just nostalgia on my part haven't played it since like 20 years ago.

((used the search option to not list games that other people havlisted)

Also, Numenera Torment. (I know i know a lot of people dislike this game but it is a party based game where combat is rarely required. The main complaints I know of is that the game is too verbose/purple prose, your choices may not matter much, and there is too little combat, but I still greatly enjoyed it)

Consortium, there are only two fights in the game and they are both avoidable. (really short game though)

OP,

Look into Space Rangers HD: a war apart.
It has text adventures, Realtime Strategy (with optional FPS control for 200% better fighting ability), turn based space combat, twitch arcade warp tunnels, and a really good economics simulator.

Also, have you considered the crazy bizzare delightful world of Russian FPS RPG's?
Sadly GOG doesn't have appear to have any of them, however steam does sell them
...and steam's summer sales event is happening right now.

I can think of 3 awesome Russian FPS/RPG titles off the top of my head. Parkan 1(1997), Xenus 2: White Gold (2008), and The Precursors(2009).

Parkan came out in 1997. It's a combo of FPS combat, wing commander: privateer space flight/space combat, and RTS, with Russian voicework. Graphics: think Dark Forces/Daggerfall FPS graphics, privateer space graphics.

Xenus 2: Think a Russian FarCry 2 in latin america with EQ style factions +RPG stats/perks + intensely modeled vehicles. Graphics: think FarCry2.
Weapons can be upgraded, vehicles can run out of gas/blow out tires, and stealing tires from cars is a valid tactic.
English version is buggy, needs a community modpack to fix bugs/really shine, Russian voicepack recommended.

The Precursors is basically an upgraded version of Xenus 2 (made by the same developer), only the plot/setting is essentially Morrowind in Space + everything from Xenus 2 + Spaceships
Spaceship combat, space stations, multiple game planets, planet trading, etc + Russian craziness.
Graphics: think Elder Scrolls: Oblivion/Mass Effect 1.
Needs community modpack to fix bugs/fix the poorly english translated storyline, using russian voicepack highly recommended.

Geneforge Saga, or the Avadon series.
