It seems that you're using an outdated browser. Some things may not work as they should (or don't work at all).
We suggest you upgrade newer and better browser like: Chrome, Firefox, Internet Explorer or Opera

Gideon111: oh okay then. I will try this. i dont know what will happen with that 7.5 gigs but anyway. Also, should I run the game through galaxy after updating though the downloader
avatar
Ritualisto: The GOG Downloader isn't updating your game. It just downloads the patch you have to install later manually by double clicking the exe-file. As the name says it is just a downloader not a patcher. So download the patch (using the Downloader or your browser) and install it.
You can play the game with or without Galaxy (before and after patching the game). If you want to start the game without Galaxy double click the exe-file of Witcher 3 in the install folder of Witcher 3.

Gideon111: yes you got it! I installed the whole game through the disks! It was on version 1.02. So, can I forget the old patches and only download the latest patch?
avatar
Ritualisto: You only have 3 options:

1. Play the game on version 1.02.
2. Download the install files from GOG and play it with version 1.06.
3. Download and install the latest patch. You aren't able to download older patches.
I understand that. Anyway, its all very confusing. I think even though I have downloaded and installed the patches though the downloader. It will still not appear so on galaxy which sucks. Anyway, I wish they used steam. Thanks for all the help.

This is what I will do. Install the patches though the downloader. Then try to play though galaxy. If it doesnt work I will report back here ! ;)

Depends of what they say. If you see patches names "1.02 --> 1.03", "1.03 --> 1.03hotfix", etc..., you obviously have to DL and install every one of the patches that come after your version. If it's "1.06 patch" (or whatever the current number) without incremental patching precision, then you should be able to patch with only the latest.

Easier way to find out is to run the patch. If it says you have the wrong version, then you'll know you have to install the other patches.

And yeah, Galaxy is a mess. They pushed it out too early so that they would be able to use it for TW3 release, and it shows.

You can ask Galaxy to "find" your GOG games that have been installed by other means. Not sure if it won't try to "patch" it again, though.

does it help IF i tell you it says 1.02 -+ > 1.08.4 (part 1)
1.02 -+ > 1.08.4 (part 2)

I hope the info above will help you be able to determine if thats all I will need? I would basically like to know if that covers all the old patches

Then it's okay. The patch name obviously says that it will update your 1.02 game (and any version after 1.02) to the current 1.08.4 level. You should be okay.

And I think that statement stands out as the sad result of client software. Make it easy for people an they forget how to operate. Its very simple:
Either:
- Install the game from the disk
Or
- Download the installer files via web browser/downloader and install from those files

Then:
Download the latest patch from the website, via browser or deownloader.
Apply this patch to your game.
Play

As for wishing they used steam, well, if you want to rent things, go ahead, but I buy here to avoid steam.
How low gamers have fallen these days, at the first sign of a problem they cry for mommy Steam. Back in the 90's there was no Steam and clients didn't even exist. Getting patches required you to go to the official website and download it manually from there. I miss those days, gamers had a brain back then.

Insulting out of the blue a new user who was politely seeking help... Sorry to say that, but you kinda give a new perspective on "how low gamers have fallen these days" yourself.
You may want to be a little more welcoming, just saying.

It may be a little harsh on my side yes, however I normally am a polite person in general, it's just the "I wished they used steam" comment that ticked me off. The OP is clearly an educated person, it only happens he touched one of my soft spots.

Sorry if it gave you the wrong impression.

No problem, it's just that your harsh comment hit one of my own sore spots.
The elitist attitude with which that forum clobbers its newbies rubs me the wrong way, lately.

I imagine it must be annoying when they actually have a point. Right now, Steam is still better than Galaxy for his purpose. That said, I imagine Galaxy will catch up there eventually

Still, why not? It would be kind of nice to have GOG offer single player DRM-Free and offer Steam keys for multiplayer, where you only have to use the client/login if you want to multiplayer. It's not DRM after all.
