Yeah, we've all been there. I'm at that point right now and its doing my head in - no amount of searching seems to bring up any answers either.

Was around 2000 - 2004 (my guess is towards 2000 and it just kept showing up on music TV channels)
There was some kind of funk / soul / disco hook to it (sampled from an old track I believe)
Singer was female, white, really bright red or orange hair.
Wore either blue or white in the video - spandex or latex I think.
Keep getting the name firebird in my head regarding it.
Video was rather UV powered somehow I think.

Any ideas?!

HEHEHEH! Narp - not that pill-faced dancefloor filler (also, that track is from about 1993!). :)
I think they got an award for the "Best use of Sliding Whistle" category that year.

You know the DJ from Dee-lite is a highbrow avant garde musician these days and is actually responsible for Kylie's "wierd" album? - apprently it is so!

Sachys:
Any info about the song itself, or do you only remember the video? I'll be no help going solely on a description of a video clip from that period, as I had no cable and no computer or internet access back then.

If you can, hum a few bars! =D
Ok, so I found some white lady with really bright red/purple hair. Not sure about the costume, but there's lots of funk. Is this it?
If this was youtube there would be 10 answers saying Darude Sandstorm...
Ok for reals, not sure if this is it, but released in 2001, some UV lighting, blue costumes, lots of funk and sampling...just not white:

Missy Elliott - Get Ur Freak On

Do you have any melody fragments you can hum? If so, you could try out this site:

I don't have a song in mind, but the description sounds like Cyndi Lauper. She sported pink and orange hair in the 80s. Don't know if she was still using that look in early 2000.

Vitamin C perhaps?
