rtcvb32: Avoiding galaxy in the installers...

I'd wish they also dropped the dependencies and put those as a separate installer. Every time a game needs DirectX 9, you have 100Mb of data that isn't needed.

Would having 1 installer with all dependencies be too hard? Possibly including Microsoft patches/fixes if applicable...

Dalthnock: That happens everywhere, not just on GOG. Probably licensing issues, or something.

Q: What do you call 100 lawyers drowning in high seas?
A: A good start, haw haw haw!
Most people in graveyards are buried 6 feet down. Do you know why lawyers are buried 12 feet down?

(Let's turn this into a proper vaudeville act.)

Hmmm. Nope, I don't know. I give up, Mr. Tarfu. Why are lawyers buried 12 feet down?

Because deep down, lawyers are good people. :)

GR00T: Just a point of note: the Galaxy installers have a (g) at the end of their file names. So if the ones you DL don't have that, then that's a way to make sure you've got the unladen ones.
Basically it is correct, but GOG still make some classic installers with a (g) in their filename.
It should be tagged as bugs, but you know, GOG is very very unprofessional.
Those stupid bugs are not uncommon for GOG.

Those buggy classic installers I have:
setup_crookz_1.0.0.24360(g)_(16766).exe
setup_crookz_1.0.0.24360(g)_(16766)-1.bin
setup_bombshell_1.2.10466(g)_(16787)-1.bin
setup_bombshell_1.2.10466(g)_(16787).exe
setup_bombshell_1.2.10466(g)_(16787)-2.bin
setup_sheltered_1.4(g)_(16814).exe
setup_urban_empire_1.2.1.3(g)_(16910)-1.bin
setup_urban_empire_1.2.1.3(g)_(16910).exe
setup_urban_empire_-_two_sides_dlc_1.2.1.3(g)_(16910).exe

Thanks, but yeah, at this point I think we all need to assume that no matter how things are supposed to work here, there are always exceptions.

Dalthnock: I'm using the old GOG downloader to backup the games. Do those links contain Galaxy, or are they clean? How can I tell?
They're clean. I just download them and move them over manually.

If you redownload the Downloader links, it will rescan the downloaded files to make sure they arrived fine.

I didn't know that. That's useful, thank you!
For every single game, with the galaxy installer, it's optional! Press options within the installer and unselect "keep your game up to date".

Edit: I download my games thru a browser. GOG Downloader isn't supported anymore.
