Well, if you have the boxed Version, there should be a GoG code in the box.

I have a physical copy also, but haven't registered it yet. From what I read in the manual, you're supposed to install the base game along with the Galaxy client by using the box set DVDs, and then you will have the option to link the game to your GoG account from the Galaxy client.

Once you have the base game in your account, you'll be able to register the Blood & Wine code also.

Again, have not done this yet myself, but in theory that's how it's done. Hope it helps.

I went crazy looking for one, thinking the same thing, but apparently there's no code for the base game, just for Blood & Wine.

No. If you don't input the GOG code, you won't be able to activate the game on GOG, with or without Galaxy.

There most definitely should be one:

Each retail PC copy of Wild Hunt will contain an additional GOG.com game code for The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt. One can install and play the game without the game code and without becoming a GOG.com user.

Wait... there must be a code, because you`ll need your game to be registered here, so you can download the patches!
And having codes only for the DLC but not for the base game sounds pretty senseless, since you need the base game to get the DLC.
Weird. I think there has happened some failure, so you should contact support and/or CD Project (makers of The Witcher games).
But wait... you say Galaxy is not optional when you want to have a patched version of The Witcher 3 and the DLCs?

Nope. You can totally download DLCs/patches without the use of the client.

I know, I found the same reference on their site, and that's why I almost went crazy looking for a code. And just for you I'll check one more time, but believe me I've looked over everything in that box for like 30 times and there weren't any codes. You'd think the code would be printed somewhere in sight, right?

Turns out I'm an idiot - I finally found it. The GoG code is printed on the backside of the final page of the manual.

Thanks. Turns out the 31st time is indeed lucky.

Indeed.

Maxvorstadt: Wait... there must be a code
Turns our there is, it's just not that easy to spot. In my defense, "Blood & Wine" has a nice separate page for the code with instructions on how to redeem, which is clearly visible when you open the boxed set.

I expected something similar for the base game, but it just has it printed on the back cover of the manual.

What have we learned from Road Runner cartoons Gog? Big flashy arrows are needed to point dumb birds and myself in the right direction!

Well, the backside of the manual is one of the first spots where I look for game related codes. Many games have their security (copy protection) codes on the back side of the manual. For example: Titan Quest and it`s add on.
Well.. that was quick. XD
Btw the OP has been one of the few newbies who politely replied before disappearing forever.

As you might have already figured out from my case of apparent blindness, I don't ever buy boxed games, so that's why I was clueless. I've only got "The Witcher3: Wild Hunt" and "Blood & Wine" as a gift, in fact.

I'll keep it in mind if I ever get one again.

Well, `the last boxed game I bought was "Civilization 5", and that is more than a year ago. But I`ve been buying boxed versions for many years, since back then games didn`t need Internet to be playable.
