I have made a similar topic in the past, but this one's different.

So i am curious whether you guys have ever felt cheated by developers/publishers.

For instance, right now Cyberpunk is on 199 zlotys (about 45 dollars i think?). Imagine if the game is a failute and it dropped to 99 zlotys in a month. So basically you have spent 100 zlotys needlessly.

Or you pay 199 zlotys for Baldur's Gate 3 (not saying Larian would ever do that don't misinterpret me) and then they just decide to abandon the game in early access

Have you ever been *censored so as to not get banned* that way?

I don't mean the price only but just generally being cheated on ny devs or publishers
Yeah. Diablo 3. Bought because I am a massive fan of the first two games. I was aware that the 3rd one had been developed by an entirely different team and studio, but I had just enough trust left in Blizzard that they would not completely fuck it up - basically, my worst-case scenario was that it would not be particularly memorable, but man, it would still be Diablo, right?!

...Yeah, and then I couldn't play for the first few days because of the server issues, and I figured I would give them until the weekend (when I would really want to get into it) to sort their shit out.

Well, the weekend came, I was able to play with (server-side) issues for an hour or three, and then it was clear to me that this was not at all what I wanted from a Diablo game. So I put in for a refund. The refund was denied on the grounds that I had owned the game for more than 72 hours. So I explained that I had not been able to access the game for the first few days. Again: You owned it for 72 hours, cry us a river. I tried a third time, clarifying that the game had not even worked for the first few days, and that, since the game is Always Online, I simply could not play it, i.e. even use the product. Their answer? Not our problem.

And that's where I really felt shafted. I wanted to be fair and reasonable and give them time to sort their shit. They used that to deny my request for a refund. Turned me off Blizzard as a company for good, and completely annihilated my acceptance of any forced online requirement.

I usually don't get bent out of shape if a game gets a bit cheaper shortly after I bought it, though. I figure the game was worth the price I paid to me, otherwise I would not have bought it for that price.

I bought a lifetime subscription for Hellgate: London and got exactly one content patch before it got closed down. I'm still not sure what happened, other than the executives of Flagship Studios saying they had to cash in their 401k to pay salaries, and how they received a loan from Hanbitsoft for their IP as collateral, and lost both of the games they'd created because they defaulted.

Seriously, I have no idea how the game got mismanaged so badly, and I'm not sure I want to know. I paid $100 for a lifetime sub and some people who'd been subbed for 6 months never even had their card charged.

I love Brevik, but that really ground my gears.
Kinda, yeah. I bought Divinity 2 for full price when it was brand new and shiny... and it was broken to the point I literally couldn't play it at all for months until a patch was released. And when I finally did get to play I didn't like it much at all. Ah well, water under the bridge I guess. At least Larian redeemed themselves with Original Sin, though I sure as hell didn't buy that one on release :P
