That it's still in an open crowdfunding phase might have something to do with that.

Also, I can't be the only one looking at the main character model and thinking of Jade Empire.
Cool project, can't help you with the puzzle.

I have a few irks about this indie game:
- Isn't Hercules a Disney property? Do they have the right to use the character?
- The jumping and some of the other animations look rough
- It looks kinda bland?
- What is up with the design of the main character? He looks more like an anime fashion model than a Greek demigod.
- Digital release on PC (Developers that say this need to wake up and stop using PC = Windows), no multi-platform support and maybe, if they're lucky (whatever the heck that means, taken from Comments and FAQ responses), they'll also be releasing on PS4 and Xbox One 2 months after PC release...

I would really like a new Hercules game, but I think it would either have to be in the art style of the Disney game or a grittier style similar to God of War. This is neither of those.

Glad it isn't just me. I know they cite Dynasty Warriors as an influence and I have to assume that's what has carried over heavily into the character design but even looking at pepcoqua's screenshot, it honestly looks like someone dropped in the protagonist from Jade Empire into the world of Trine.

Also, I'd be really curious to find any single entity claiming rights to any mythological characters. Specific interpretations, like Disney's Hercules, Marvel Comics' Hercules (which seems like a distinction without a difference these days, given Disney owns Marvel) or even Universal/Renaissance Pictures Hercules & Young Hercules, definitely, but general usage of the character(s) like Hercules, Zeus, etc. seem like they'd be hard for anyone to claim ownership rights over.

As much as Thor is a Disney property.
