Does anybody know what the problem is with re-releasing this game? It isn't being sold anywhere.

It was made by Silverback Entertainment (no longer exists?) and published by Dreamcatcher, which came under JoWooD. JoWooD assets have been acquired by Nordic Games, which later became THQ Nordic.

Seeing as THQ Nordic has no problems with publishing games on GOG, one has to wonder what the problem with Harbinger is...

This was a pretty cool game, that was basically a sci-fi Diablo. Would be nice if GOG could investigate the situation and possibly bring it here.

It's actually sold on Gamersgate, although it won't install on modern systems iirc. (Last time I tried it didn't at least)
Current publisher there is listed as THQ, so you're right on that point.
Might just be that it's hard to get it working on modern systems, and rather low priority due to its obscurity.

Likely a case of incompatibility with modern systems.

Pretty much.
From the GaGa gamepage:
System requirements:
Pentium III 500 MHz
Windows 98, ME, 2000, XP. NOT VISTA/W7!
DirectX 8.0 compatible 3D accelerator with at least 16MB of video RAM
DirectX 8.0 Compatible Sound Card
128 MB RAM
650 MB available hard drive space
That game was awesome. A shame that it has all but disappeared.

This is the first time I've seen Gamersgate abbreviated like that, and I'm not sure what to think of it.
Hmm, missed that it was on Gamersgate. Good to know.

But anyway, GOG regularly fixes old games to run on modern systems (like they did just recently with "The I of the Dragon").

Would be great if they managed to make this game work on Win 7/10 and offer it here.

It is weird. At this point I didn't think GOG had many issues getting old games running on new machines (at least as well as they did "back in the day"), but maybe that is the hold-up like Grargar suggested.

It can't hurt to try to contact Nordic about this, though I've tried in the past with no luck.
That game looks interesting! I hope GOG can get it someday.
Wow I had forgotten this game existed, brings back some fond memories. I'm going to add my vote to that wishlkist.

As to it being compatible with modern systems, there's a gameplay vid on Youtube of someone playing it on Windows 10. So it's possible right?

Love this game, and have actually been trying to get it here on and off for years, with no luck.

As the others said, though, it is sold elsewhere on Gamersgate. As for compatibility.....I myself had no issues getting it running on Win10(Home-64 bit).
Still quite a few old awesome games that GOG could bring over here for us to buy again. Games like this one and Dungeon Master 1 and 2.
There are certainly a number of good old games games that seem like relatively "easy brings", but perhaps there are complications below the surface.

I'd like to think some are as simple as getting a hold of someone or a phone call.
