DadJoke007: Any hope it will be DRM-free this lifetime? Anyone hyped for this collection despite Steam?

I have thought about giving Halo one more try, but I really hated the level design in the first game. Does it get better or are the levels as repetive in Halo 2, 3 and 4?

The level designs are all horrible. It is a Bungie game. Every level is garbage design and all the same. Hallway/corridor connected to a box/room followed by another hallway/corridor connected to another box with the last box filled with enemies and waves of enemies.

Same Sh*t design for 20 years. Bungie exists because of marketing, but their games all suck and why everybody ran through Destiny in 5 minutes. This is why ActiBlizz got rid of them and why Destiny is a failure. CoD, Fortnite, Borderlands, etc., etc., etc., have left them in the dust.
Cool news! Really enjoyed the Halo series and it should be cool to play it on PC with a M&K... the proper way to play a FPS game.

True... but I honestly think the combat is fantastic and makes up for the repetitive level design/copy pasting of rooms.

ShadowWulfe: At least it's not on the awful Windows Store.
I'm amazed they're releasing it on Steam considering Age of Empires Definitive Edition is a Windows Store exclusive.

Well... Microsoft has provided that option if people prefer ;).Cheers

I don't know the sales figures for AoE1, but I can't imagine they were as good as the AoE2HD edition.

That could be the reason, or one of them, that they're releasing the Halo collection on Steam. AoE 1 also wasn't the best game to make exclusive as it wasn't as popular as the sequel.
I'd like to think that their decision to add the Halo games to PC might lead to them adding other exclusives to PC like the Perfect Dark remaster for an example. I absolutely loved Perfect Dark and wish it could get a PC port along with mod capabilities and a map editor for both single player/coop and multiplayer content, but one can only dream.

Yeah. Whoever designed that needs to burn in a fiery pit of hell. Even the shit that was the Games for Windows Live store/website was much more usable than the Windows store.

I don't own any games on there, but I am always curious to see what is on it. I can only run it once out of every five times.

I'm hoping Gears of War eventually migrates off of that mess.

Ditto.

I also hope AoE: Definitive Edition and Dead State 2 are released elsewhere as well.

Edit: Sorry... STATE OF DECAY 2... NOT Dead State 2.

Wait Dead State had a sequel and it was exclusive to Windows Store?

I loved Dead State; what eventually killed it for me was the inventory management though.

Sorry...

STATE OF DECAY 2.

I always call "State of Decay" "Dead State" off the top of my head.
Noice!

Can't wait to play again.

This is pretty dang cool. I'm happy to see console exclusives make their way to PC eventually... even if it can be a bit irritating seeing them spread out across a half-dozen launchers.
