Steam key and you have to link to your Steam account and subscribe to their newsletter. Actually it tries to get you to link to your Steam account, but I think you can bypass that part if you want.

One doesn't even have to play license expiration bingo for Codemasters games anymore because every time they've given one of their racers away like this they've been pulled from sale shortly thereafter.
