BlueMooner: Totally understand, yet I believe people inject those debates into unrelated topics precisely BECAUSE there isn't an off topic section. As I said, people WANT to talk about non-game issues, and closing every thread about them just forces people to start them up in unrelated threads, making nobody happy.

When you have problems you cannot stop, the best you can do is corral it into one area.
Agreed with the bolded bit. That said, I think people would inject such into any thread near the end of it's lifespan or as part of their natural conversation regardless, from time to time**.

(**=That includes ANY offtopic, even allowed topics on the forums...it's just often part of most thread's life cycles)

Time4Tea: the ability to subscribe to game-specific sub forums that a user is most interested in would also help a lot.

BlueMooner: You do know about this page, yes?

https://www.gog.com/forum

You can add or remove specific forums on the lower left.
Oh, that's very helpful. I hadn't realized that you could mark subforums as favorites there. Thanks for pointing that out :-)
I don't think this forum really has enough activity to warrant any sections.

GameRager: For such people a way to hide threads would be nice, and then GOG wouldn't even need to make yet more subforums.

teceem: Exactly! I know it won't happen (anytime soon), but customization options are better than trying to adapt the forum in a way that makes everybody happy (=impossible).
+1

I suspect Gog are working as fast as they can to make the site as good as they can as soon as they can. It's not the priority, apparently, since the Galaxy client upgrade was first; this doesn't mean it has been neglected, simply that it isn't ready for prime time yet, and the resources needed to build it aren't available (yet).

Remember the site needs to incorporate the marketplace and links to the sub-fora ecosphere (for potential purchasers to check what people are saying about the game in addition to the self-selected minority who post reviews) and hopefully allow future users to find old posts after the transition (should it happen).
