P-E-S: Totally forgot about this one. There's Unciv, a free open-source clone of Civ V. It may not look like much and some of the UI can be a bit more fiddly than needs be, but it's still quite well done in its poor man's version.
You can get Civ 5 almost for free using a key and i bet, the poorest ones may even get it totally for free.

Just does not make sense getting a inferior free version just because your bag is empty.

I do not know the current market share because it is really hard to guess and not much accurate data i am able to find. The total revenue of Epic means less because "game-sells" are just a side business to them... they got other main income sources.

Clearly, the DRM free approach, in the beginning of GoG, was surely a hard nut to crack but nowadays this shell is actually pretty much cracked already. The main issue GoG have to tackle is "insufficient market share"; there is many reasons. Clearly, while the other platforms are constantly improving, GoG unfortunately is really slacking on many spots and even degrading many of the original traits. So the trust in general is decreasing for obvious reasons.

I already told, GoG will have to invest more but without enough of competent workers and with CDPR rather enjoying to fire 10% of their devs instead of working on necessary improvements... the result can not be great.

However, i do not think the Epic Game market share is that great because Steam is ruling them all, everyone without exception. However, Epic Games got such a bloody "cash-backbone" that they can afford to "throw many high rated free games toward the customers", and many of those customers just got a account in order to "catch a free game". On top of that, the conditions for the publisher at this platform are surely supreme... they may be able to release a game almost free of cost (maybe 10% cut only... compared to 20-30% cut on other platforms). So it may be worth it releasing even many of the bigger games there.

Of course, they are not stupid... ONCE a customer got a Epic account already, they are more likely to buy some other great games there... so "mission achieved".

I just want to thank everyone for the suggestions. Plenty of good stuff to check out, so it will probably take me a while. ^_^

P-E-S: Battle for Wesnoth! Hurr durr. ;) I'm actually surprised they even bothered to put it on there, seeing as they had their own site for like forever.
itch.io is missing the Linux version, however.

Then again, if you are using Linux and want to play the game, it may just be as simple as an apt (or dnf, or pacman, or whatever command your distro uses) command away. ("sudo apt install wesnoth" should work on debian and derivatives, for example.)
Star Sector is available on their own page (https://fractalsoftworks.com/) . Very open-ended indie space game. Top-down, kind of like SPAZ but also definitely it's own thing.
Not so many "good stuff" to check out for me, but "Rise of the Tomb Raider" is really good. I am glad i found a solution circumventing the country-lock from Epic and after it was done there was indeed many more payment options available. Now i was able to download this game on my Notebook using the launcher. After it was done i was copying all the files to my "Gamer PC" and indeed i was able to play it without any external launcher or other DRM.

Somehow weird and sad it is not already on GoG but okay... for around 30 coins, for a complete version with all the DLC, it was worth it to me.

That's not directly available on the official site either. Says "There are binaries for many different GNU/Linux distributions. Not all are always up to date with the current release. Please have a look at the Linux binary page for more information about the binaries for your distribution."

Also, interesting that if you click Windows it takes you to the itch page, but for Mac it goes to Sourceforge.

Xeshra: Rise of the Tomb Raider is surely great but in my country there is only around 4 payment options on Epic Games (much worse than GoG and of course worse than Steam) and none of those payment is a option to me. So, i could not get it in any legal way...

If i check their FAQ i am able to see a huge list of payment options... well, this is just words and paper, reality is different. For a good shop it is very important providing many options.

Shadow of the Tomb Raider i would consider on par with the "Reboot"... good but i could pass on it (just way to many other games already).
I was lucky to grab both (well, all three games really) on Epic for free on New Years Eve 2021/2022.

Indeed lucky, however, do not underestimate your valuable time "consumed" in order to track all those "free releases" which are very limited time only and just a few true gems inside, and those gems are rarely DRM free (the majority is still not DRM free, i assume).

The Tomb Raider "Reboot" i already got from GoG and i do prefer this version, with installer included. Shadow of the Tomb Raider unfortunately is still not DRM free and my interest is rather limited. I can be gotten on Steam almost for free using a key... but i am not in a rush at all, as long as not DRM free. Yes indeed, Rise of the Tomb Raider would be a nice "present", anyway, only today i even had any "clue" it is actually DRM free... yet i still do prefer a GoG version with a installer.

Of course, in case Rise of the Tomb Raider still got DRM... i would not pay more than 5 coins... and no need.

Granted, you have to use their respective client's to first download and install the game properly.

Now, onto DRM stuff.

On Shadow for Steam, after downloaded and all, you can bypass the Steam-client app with the "No-Launcher" argument:
-> https://www.pcgamingwiki.com/wiki/Shadow_of_the_Tomb_Raider#Skip_launcher_and_fix_Steam_overlay

Not sure if Shadow works offline without launcher with ALL DLC's; I'd have to test it.

On Rise, PC Gaming Wiki say you can bypass Epic and the EXE is DRM-Free there:
-> https://www.pcgamingwiki.com/wiki/Rise_of_the_Tomb_Raider

So, yeah - I'd love to see DRM-FREE versions of Rise and Shadow hit GOG.

Condemned: Criminal Origins DRM free on Steam
alpha protocol was DRM free on Gamersgate. They even gave you a patch to remove the old DRM. But sadly the game is not for sell anymore.

Red Candle opened their own e-shop after the debacle, and it sells Detention and Devotion DRM-free.
