mystikmind2000: Hi people
I don't really know what are the most loved types of games that a 4 year old girl might like? (that i can buy here)
Can there be any that are not too boring for a father to join in and play? But its not essential, just hoping?
If you say mine craft i am going to pack my bags and move to Mars!! lol
Just ask yourself what you would have liked at 4.
I think at 4 you need games that are not focus on narration and it's better if they are not too difficult, finally a cartoon style is a great way to make it more interesting.
So I would avoid any FPS, Stealth, Strategy and Sport/Racing games... Also if you want to get any RPG or Action they need to be easy to understand. I would also avoid games that are too easy, challenges are great to learn and losing should not be a taboo.
Any adventure game with puzzles is great, any "not impossible" platform is awesome, any really simple RPG should be ok.
A few example:
- GrimFandango is awesome. It's easy to understand how to play, there are some good puzzles that you can enjoy together and the look is awesome and with lot's of colors.
- Asterix&Obelix XXL1-2 are simple action plaform. The story here is not that important. They are not too difficult but they will pose a challenge. And they are cartonish so the style is great and with a lot of colors. It should be fun to enjoy together.
- Evoland 1 is a really simple RPG, should be easy to play even for a 4 years old.
Just remember that kids aren't stupid. They don't need games without any depth, just a guide to teach them what they don't know. No topic should be taboo if well explained.
My suggestions therefore are more general guidelines than hard and fast rules. Even a fps like Duke Nukem 3D clearly not for children if played with the right mood and with the right guide can be fun for a child.
Whether it's a boy or a girl doesn't really matter. Boys and girls are able to have fun with the same things, it's us adults who influence their tastes.
Parenthesis, some things I found funny as a child aren't anymore, but the ones I found funnier still are and who knows why they are those things that made sense. For example I had a video game that taught how to play the piano, I still think it's a lot of fun despite the fact that it's clearly designed for children.
There is simply a huge difference between "aimed at an audience of children" and "made exclusively for children".
The idea shouldn't be to find brainless entertainment, the idea should be to find entertainment that you too find enjoyable but that has more colors and rules that are easy to understand (if you are not there to explain how it works).
PS. My bad I didn't notice it was a post of 2015.
