It seems that you're using an outdated browser. Some things may not work as they should (or don't work at all).
We suggest you upgrade newer and better browser like: Chrome, Firefox, Internet Explorer or Opera

Is this a false positive or has GOG been compromised? Why is this file tripping virus scanner? And no, I am NOT disabling my virus protection while I update. Do better GOG. Any other solutions?

This is happening to me as well. Completely F*cked with my game library and now I am having to reinstall all kinds of Sh!t... This is crap. I have added the entire GOG folder to the exceptions list of my antivirus software and every 30 seconds I get a popup saying a new malware was quarantined. This just started happening tonight upon new update!
AVG as well.
I am getting this same error too. Happy to know it isn't just me and I am using Avast as well
Same. Even though I have it listed in exclusions, Avast keeps removing Galaxy.

ComicRelief: AVG as well.
AVG is owned by Avast, so their detection rates should be the same now.
Same thing here with AVG, started detecting the update as a virus.
Eventually I got so frustrated I disabled AVG and let it update,
then GOG Galaxy just disappeared from the hidden icons,
tried opening it again and got a combination of messages
saying that path is invalid and bloody virus detections.
Uninstalled GOG Galaxy, reinstalled, detects the update
as a virus. My games still work but at this point the only
solution I can come up with is to abandon GOG Galaxy.
No good.
I ran the updater through hybrid analysis, and I couldn't find anything malicious going on. Though, it was not fully executed as it was missing a dll file. I don't have a proper malware analysis vm up and running, but I doubt there is anything malicious going on. I sent the file to Avast as a False Positive.

Don't turn your AV off whenever something like this happens. Merely add the GOG path to the excluded paths.

In Avast it is Settings (the cog wheel in the lower left corner) -> General -> Exclusions -> Add -> GOG path

You need to add both (these are the default folder paths) C:\ProgramData\GOG.com\ and C:\Program Files (x86)\Galaxy Client\ folders.

^ I did that but Avast still removes Galaxy. When I need to use it I'll have to disable Avast.
