It seems that you're using an outdated browser. Some things may not work as they should (or don't work at all).
We suggest you upgrade newer and better browser like: Chrome, Firefox, Internet Explorer or Opera

visconteprimus: Doesn't seem to me... If the old downloader doesn't work, I don't see other solutions. As I already said, via browser means too much time so Galaxy becomes the only way.

Nice and cool as a finger in an eye...
Don't know why your browser downloads are slow. Mine are completely unthrottled. I get 6-7MB/s (Around 50Mb/s). I also use gogrepo for my bulk downloading needs.

tburger: Ekhm.....But I'm always logged in on GOG.COM :-D
Emm... good for you, I guess? ;-D

And forgot my manners - hi there, hope you're doing well.
This is probably caused by GOG OAuth API having some issues at the moment.
The API has been returning "500 Internal Server Error" messages when trying to login for at least a week now.

Mmm, ok. So this could be the cause of this sort of "random issues" concerning the old downloader (?): earlier, impossibility to download and now to log in. Could be?

visconteprimus: What a great logic! So, in your opinion, we all have to submit... Even if is clearly written on GOG Support site that the old downloader will still remain to be used!
They stated some time ago that it is officially unsupported though.

visconteprimus: Well, if this feature is still making available then it has to work. Simple.

What you called "solution" it's only a palliative, so spare me your two-bit sarcasm. Thanks.
as noted above, it's not officially supported by GOG anymore, so it actually doesn't have to work.

I'm not trying to be belligerent and I use the DLer myself, but it's no longer supported and won't get anymore updates so eventually it will stop working. As others have noted though, there are alternatives, but it's likely just a temporary glitch.

Quite likely. I've had it behave similarly a couple times before, but it's always fixed itself after a few hours.

Well, I have a connection under 1 Mb (because Italy has the worst web infrastructure in the world) so you'll understand why it's so important to me this downloader works.

Thanks for your answers, I hope this issues will fix by itself.

Ugh, I understand your concern, then.

No worries. I'm betting it won't be long before it's running smooth again.

visconteprimus: I know but... Via browser means centuries and... I thought Galaxy was optional!
First you mention two different ways to download GOG games, then you imply Galaxy is not optional? Isn't that contradictory? :)
avatar
visconteprimus: It seems pretty "unfair" to me, like be forced to use something that I don't need at all!
Do you feel you were forced to use the old GOG downloader client before? If not, why not?

Anyway, I personally consider Galaxy optional as long as it is not needed to play the games. Delivery (downloading) of the games is a different matter, I don't care that much what kind of client is needed for the delivery, be it a web browser client, GOG Downloader, Galaxy etc. All i care is that it makes the downloading as effortless as possible.

nightcraw1er.488: Use browser download. Go to the web site, foto your account, find the game, make sure you check it's not the galaxy installers (it will say in obscure text at the bottom and under others you will find classic installers). Download the files of the classic installer and they will come via browser. Simple.
Gog downloaded has been discontinued, still works but has been replaced with galaxy.

?? Downloaded, galaxy etc. Are not going to get any better speeds than browser download, they don't have a magic cable. Been using browser downloads for decades and it is great.
Just a guess, but it might all be caused by the Hurricanes that are churning in the Atlantic and in the gulf. Now if you're on the other side of the pond, ie EU or close to that, I have no answer.

Err... GOG Downloader was optimized, so it really was more fast than a via browser downloading.

Anyway, I understand opening this thread was a waste of time, excpet for a few answers. I'll try reusing DownThemAll! again (a name I hasn't heard by ages) but I want remind you a thing.

Supporting a feature and mantaining it have different meanings: keep a feature working means simply to guarantee its operation, not "pretending" its ever-up-to-date status or else.
