I just received an e-mail from newsletter@gog.com telling me something about an upcoming change in privacy policy. As this mail was sent to an address of mine NOT registered with GoG.com I assume it's a fishing attempt although it looks quite convincing.

Just wanted to inform you.

GOG did send one such mail, so do double check if the mail you received it in isn't an older account you've made and forgot about. And newsletter@gog.com is one address GOG does use, for its newsletter.

Edit: Here's the mail in your browser: http://www.gog.com/newsletter/2015_terms_of_use_change

Indeed, thats the mail I received. Still strange because:

- I did not get this mail on my account I'm currently logged in on gog.com
- I did not subscribe to newsletters

I DID use the mail address in question to set up my gog-account years ago I think, but I changed it quite a while ago because of increasing levels of spam...

GOG's trying to trick you into buying more games! beware!

I could see a terms of use change being something important enough to get mailed regardless of subscription settings. Sort of how there is a huge list of exceptions on the do not call list.

They don't need to, I'd buy them anyways ;)
I got an email from someone claiming to be Prince Judas that said he had a lot of games and needed my help to access them. I'm sending him all of my details as we speak and hopefully we'll both benefit from this. :D

Hehe, I doubt Judas would need any of us to help him access any games. As far as I know, all GOG employees have the entire catalog in their accounts. One of the perks of the job ;-)

On the downside, they probably have just as little time or less than us to play them. Although, I can imagine them having some cool old-fashioned LAN parties at the office. *jealous* I'd love to do that with some of these old games, but alas fellow PC gamers seem awfully hard to find in person. *grumble grumble*

You should come to Europe, there are plenty of us here ;-)

There was a chance in policies announced a while ago.
I have them open in another tab. I smiled when I found the "english" translation from legalese. :-)
I haven't received that e-mail... ?_?

I may be wrong but I think Bunny was making a crack regarding all the Nigerian scams where a "prince" asks for your details and will send you a fortune for a small sum. Pretty funny if you ask me. The Judas part made it GOG-centric instead of using a random name.

it was announced a while ago, but it's only taking effect now.
