Is GOGMix still active? I'm trying to save my list, but it just keeps on spinning.

Sadly, it's pretty much an unsupported feature these days.
I do hope they'll update the concept with improved functionality in the coming months, as it's a much-needed feature, but it might not be high on their priority list. :(

Too bad, but thanks.

You can't add games to existing ones anymore and if you try to like any them the vote isn't added - tried this on several random gogmixes.

Some time ago I was told by support that the people who coded it no longer work for Gog and so they have abandoned support for them as it is too complicated and time consuming, so they claim, to try to update.

They seem to have been like this for a few days, but I've seen them "self-correct" before so maybe they'll start working again?

To be fair - I am pretty sure the same thing applies to the forum ;)

In this case why update it? Strip out the old code and just replace it completely with new code. Far simpler and it wouldn't be that time consuming. It's not like the GOGmixes are overly complex. It's just pulling data from a database and displaying it to the user really.

Hell I was able to re-design the front-end in a few hours, the back-end would take longer but it shouldn't take that long with a competent programmer. Few weeks at the most, maybe a month or two if you include testing.

EDIT:

All this says to me is the have a very unorganized method to coding. If everything is properly documented, employees leaving would not be an issue.

That must be a very recent issue since mine is not thaaat old and I recently added NMS when they added third person view with the NEXT update: https://www.gog.com/mix/third_person_open_world_charcreation_games

Also it got 2 votes since then. yeay :P

But overall I'm not that enthusiastic in following it anymore when I read that gog ain't either.

It happens in IT. When I worked as a database programmer in Delphi a long ime ago they only had two people left that were able to work on their old projects already sold to customers because nobody else still knew the engine/language.

And only in a perfect world everything is documented as it should be of course. Depending on the quality of the programmer/firm it might not be that perfect.

Holy sh...

My decision to never downvote is being put to quite a test there!
Somehow googling "GOGMix" pulled up nothing for me. What is GOGMix exactly (or what WAS it)?

You obviously forgot to hit "search" button...

GOGMix is a list of GOG games created by users using a page created by GOG.
https://www.gog.com/mix Doesn't really work at the moment.

I swear to Jeebus, Google pulled up nothing. It might've been a glitch, because it's pulling stuff up now. Thanks anyway.

This. Many programmers in general don't have the will and/or time to make complete documentation. And by using "seasonal" technologies as is often the case in web dev, there will likely be nobody left to understand that code even with documentation by the time the original authors leave the company.
