Sachys: Filesizes and how much bandwidth GOG is willing to provide to your ISP / location.
CDN roulette (you made a thread on this a while back BTW).
Time of day.
Amount of users downloading those files at that time.
Whether or not you farted in the general direction of Warsaw... should I go on?
No, this is a GOG issue. I downloaded all of those examples one right after the other, and then I just redid it again and got the same quick speeds for the games above, and the same slow speeds for the ones listed above. Gog is doing something with specific games, and I'm guessing it's as a poster above suggested... make sure the popular games are fast while throttling the less popular ones.
And for today's example of "Wait, did that really happen?"
I had an issue with Comcast and so went on the forums and was greeted by an employee who transferred me to DM. Get this, they upped my speed from the 600 Mbps to the 1Gbps. Everything else the same, and my bill is $6.00 (Edit, math is hard. It's actually $16.00 less, even better.) LESS per month.
I really must be asleep and this is a dream.
EDIT: So I just did a couple of speed tests, and I'm not getting the 1Gb/s but I am getting faster speeds than I was before (It was averaging between 650 and 700 or so) and now in all of the tests I just did this was the slowest (screenshot), the others were about 900, not quite 1Gb/s, which is still a bit faster than I was getting AND my bill every month is LESS.
EDIT 2: To be consistent I just did one using Oakly as well, about the same. (second screenshot).
And here's Mars War Logs from gog, just as slow as it was in the post above. (third screenshot).
I guess I'm going to have to break down and install Galaxy after all. I had been curious to see it over the years but man I never forgot the feedback I read several years ago that it left stuff on computers after uninstall that really affected some stuff. I dunno, maybe just move to Steam for good. Everywhere. EVERYWHERE but here. Any other website I've downloaded from is faster than this. Not. A. Single. One. This. Slow. At least that I've encountered.
It's not ISP. It's not wifi, It's not traffic. IT IS GOG. Period.
