AlienMind: I write this post because I really want GOGs plan to "make more money by copying steam" to fail and go back to service us niche people again.
Hate to tell you this but they have already made a lot more money by "copying" steam.

And it's allowed me to buy more games from somewhere that isn't Steam. That said, the niche™ games shouldn't be left aside.

HereForTheBeer: Question for the scripting experts out there:

Possible to make a script that automatically clicks the More button for you when you go to any generic gOg library page? Instead of having a setting saved on gOg's side of things - and waiting for it to be implemented "soon", control it automagically on the user side.
You mean along these lines?

Er, to be honest I've never tried AF or MagOg or any of the others out there. Does AF allow that already?

If not, well, looking at the capabilities shown in that link make it seem like something that's doable. At least, from the outside looking in.

Lifthrasil: ...they REALLY would like to force everyone to use Galaxy...
If this is truly the case, then they should make a version of Galaxy for everyone.

As a Linux user, I've never even seen what Galaxy looks like.

It sets it to use the gogdownloader, or you can click the thing top right & it'll use the browser. It also recalls what you've opted for every time, so don't have to go digging about in "More" any more.

Talk with GOG? Much as I would like to have an open discussion with them, I'm afraid it's not gonna happen. The company is no longer as talkative as they once used to be (the community is partly to blame).

As of late my only 2 issues with GOG is the lack of Galaxy for Linux which is preventing some devs from releasing games here, and the other one is this exact topic, it's very very annoying having to read tiny text to check if installer is Galaxy infected. When downloading updates, I sometimes download the Galaxy one by mistake, waste of time and bandwidth for everyone to redownload the correct one.

In Summary:

1) Just get it over with Galaxy on Linux, you're either releasing it or you're not. GOG themselves said it that without Galaxy some games wouldn't have come here from the beginning, with Windows/Mac this is almost no longer an issue, yet persists with Linux (which isn't too far behind Mac).

2) Make a simple switch and let us choose our preferred default installer - Galaxy/Classic. The community has hammered this since the beginning, many people simply don't want to use a client, some have even come to GOG simply because no client was needed to begin with.

I'm sorry to say it, but I no longer look up at GOG as the model company it used to be, many of the good things that I used to come here for are fading away and I'm finding it hard to support a company that treats their userbase in such a
poor way.

Thanks for taking the time to point out those features.
