Lord_Kane: Gah I wish people would stop calling Galaxy "GOG" it gets a tad confusing.
Yeah it should run without galaxy, did you have galaxy installed before hand? I can usually run games with out it firing up galaxy.
in either case just launch the game from the exe or shortcut in the game directory.
Raider2Knight: I try that, but then when I do Galaxy pops up as well, I think I may end up installing Galaxy, as I just had it installed to just update my games, but I really didn't want another steam like version. Thanks for helping out though
nightcraw1er.488: Uninstall galaxy. Then download the offline installers from the website, they are well hidden in an expandable bit on the library game page. You probably downloaded the galaxy installers before.
And yes, it is becoming more and more steam like.
Raider2Knight: Thank you and why is it becoming more steam like? I thought their goal was to be different and unique, to me this just screams we are trying to copy launchers like Steam, Epic, and etc... I am not complaining mind you, as I love GOG with all my heart, and Just am hating Galaxy now even more so, as I am worried it may end up restricting us to download from the site and you can only use Galaxy :(
No, the goal was never to be different. They have one motto, all the games (well, let’s go with nearly all) they sell have a single player portion drm free. That is the one and only difference. What happened was, to expand the user base and get more custom in, they wanted to appeal to the steam crowd. That meant clients, achievements, cloud saves, etc. that they want, and drm free really doesn’t exist to them. So now we are all benefiting from galaxy everywhere, taking all the primary resources. Website freaking away on second fiddle. Offline installers with galaxy dependancies (galaxy.dll, cloud saves), which means some won’t work on older operating systems, though they did before. Updating of old installers to add in galaxy items, breaking the games at the same time (wizardry 8 for instance).
So currently, it is still drm free, but with a major shift towards being just like steam which also sells drm free games.

my name is catte: Given that they already have the game installed, there's no point in telling them to redownload it.
Given that they downloaded a galaxy installer and used galaxy to install the game, downloading the offline installers for backup, and use without galaxy is exactly the point!
