So I Installed Evil Genius without GOG, yet it seems to now run up GOG whenever I load up Evil Genius? It also is the same with other games? Is GOG becoming like Steam now? Where we are forced to run it up? That's The Reason why I supported GOG because it wasn't like Steam and other crappy sites, is Next DRM so I can't share it with my brother to play multiplayer? Just a bit confused??? Do I just need to uninstall GOG Galaxy? The only reason why I installed it was so it could update the games I had, but I don't like launching it up all the time, I just wanted to play the game.

Any Help would be super appreciated why this is happening :)

Gah I wish people would stop calling Galaxy "GOG" it gets a tad confusing.

Yeah it should run without galaxy, did you have galaxy installed before hand? I can usually run games with out it firing up galaxy.

in either case just launch the game from the exe or shortcut in the game directory.

Uninstall galaxy. Then download the offline installers from the website, they are well hidden in an expandable bit on the library game page. You probably downloaded the galaxy installers before.
And yes, it is becoming more and more steam like.

I try that, but then when I do Galaxy pops up as well, I think I may end up installing Galaxy, as I just had it installed to just update my games, but I really didn't want another steam like version. Thanks for helping out though

Thank you and why is it becoming more steam like? I thought their goal was to be different and unique, to me this just screams we are trying to copy launchers like Steam, Epic, and etc... I am not complaining mind you, as I love GOG with all my heart, and Just am hating Galaxy now even more so, as I am worried it may end up restricting us to download from the site and you can only use Galaxy :(

People will tell you that it was LITERALLY FORCED on them, but they will conviniently forget to tell you that the wishlist had "add a client" "create public profiles" and "create a mobile app", even, for a VERY long time and each entry had tons of votes. Like easily they were at the top of all of the requests we had here.

So yeah, part of it it's because publishers and even devs feel better if a gaming store has a client (and it's the indies that have more problems with GOG than AAA companies, mind you), but it was also something the community actively wanted.

It's not especially for playing the games. However it is more Steam like for as far as updates go. Personally I don't mind using Galaxy for updating my games because it is much more convenient to do it that way. The only way they would force Galaxy is if it's for multiplayer games that are cross platform and the devs figured out how to make Steam versions of games to talk to Galaxy version of the same games.

Given that they already have the game installed, there's no point in telling them to redownload it.

No, the goal was never to be different. They have one motto, all the games (well, let’s go with nearly all) they sell have a single player portion drm free. That is the one and only difference. What happened was, to expand the user base and get more custom in, they wanted to appeal to the steam crowd. That meant clients, achievements, cloud saves, etc. that they want, and drm free really doesn’t exist to them. So now we are all benefiting from galaxy everywhere, taking all the primary resources. Website freaking away on second fiddle. Offline installers with galaxy dependancies (galaxy.dll, cloud saves), which means some won’t work on older operating systems, though they did before. Updating of old installers to add in galaxy items, breaking the games at the same time (wizardry 8 for instance).
So currently, it is still drm free, but with a major shift towards being just like steam which also sells drm free games.

Given that they downloaded a galaxy installer and used galaxy to install the game, downloading the offline installers for backup, and use without galaxy is exactly the point!

To add. Several stores have tried to run the gauntlet of catering to two diametrically opposed groups. Shinyloot had a drm free selection, but mostly went with steam keys. They no longer exist. Humble have some drm free titles, mostly old, outdated and forgotten in favour of steam keys. They still exist, but mostly as they operate as a guilt tax.
Just grab the offline installers whilst you can.

Sure, downloading the proper installer for a backup is a good idea but they don't need to do it right now if all they want to do right now is play the game. Any normal game installed through Galaxy will still run without Galaxy so there's really no need for them to redownload and reinstall it from an offline installer if the game is already installed.
Additionally, some people are on metered connections so your advice wouldn't just waste their time, but also their data allowance.

I get that you hate Galaxy, that's fine. Just don't waste people's time with bad advice.
